Thursday Round-Up: Steve Raible Announces Retirement, Still 'Voice Of The Seahawks'

KIRO 7 anchor Steve Raible announces his retirement via television newscast but remains in his role as ‘Voice of the Seahawks.’

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's 'out there' for today – Thursday, February 27 – about your Seattle Seahawks:

Touchdown Seahawks!

"Well tonight, we make it official—we are announcing our retirement from KIRO 7."

This was longtime KIRO 7 anchor Steve Raible's message to his viewers that he teased hours prior on Twitter. When he says, "we," he's referring to him and his wife Sharon, as he states that she's been along with him throughout his career at KIRO.

Steve Raible started at KIRO back in 1982 and I'm sure you've seen (or at least heard him) in your home over the years on television or on the radio. He announced his retirement via the KIRO 7 evening news on Wednesday.

He assures viewers on the newscast that it won't be official until late spring. "I won't be leaving you entirely," Raible explains. "I will still be your voice of the Seahawks and I will join you here on KIRO 7 for special occasions." So that famous 'TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS!' that you are oh-so-familiar with will remain the same (thank goodness).

Raible addresses his viewers, "You have trusted me to be a part of a remarkable team of journalists, photographers, and news managers for more than three decades. Thank you for that trust. And thank you for inviting me into your home."

Congratulations on a long and illustrious career, Steve!
