The Seahawks elevated linebacker Tanner Muse from their practice squad ahead of Sunday's game against Jaguars.

Muse, a 2020 third-round pick out of Clemson, missed his rookie season with the Raiders due to a toe injury, then joined Seattle's practice squad in September after being waived by Las Vegas. A two-time national champion who was a team captain and first-team All-ACC selection as a senior, Muse will provide linebacker depth, and also figures to have a role on special teams in what will be his NFL regular-season debut.

The Seahawks made no other transactions Saturday, which means Jacob Eason will serve as the backup quarterback behind Geno Smith. The Seahawks have elevated Jake Luton from the practice squad the past two games to back up Smith, but with Luton out of practice squad elevations, he would have been added to the 53-man roster to play on Sunday, and with that not happening Saturday, the Seahawks are going into Sunday's game with Smith and Eason as their two quarterbacks.

Eason, a fourth-round pick in last year's draft, joined the Seahawks last week after being waived by the Colts. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday that the former University of Washington standout and Lake Stevens High School grad was catching up fast learning the offense over the past two weeks of practice.

"He's doing really well," Carroll said. "He's been really booking. (Quarterbacks coach) Austin Davis has been just hammering him to get him caught up so that he can have a chance to be in the decision making (for the backup job) there. He got a lot of work this week, we got to see him a lot. So he's making a lot of progress quickly."

The Seahawks also did not yet place safety Marquise Blair on injured reserve, a move that is expected to happen at some point soon, as Blair last week suffered what Carroll described as a season-ending knee injury, a fractured patella for which he underwent successful surgery earlier in the week.

Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the Jaguars as the two teams get ready to face off during Week 8 at Lumen Field.
