LANDOVER, Md.—The Seahawks will be without nose tackle Brandon Pili, who was questionable on Friday's injury report, for their Week 3 game against the Commanders, making him one of three players inactive due to injury along with starting safeties Julian Love and Ty Okada, both of whom were ruled out on Friday.
Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said AJ Finley will fill in for Love, which would make this his first career start, while Rodney Thomas II will start for the third straight week in place of Okada, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Maxen Hook, who was elevated from the practice squad to add depth at safety, is active, as expected, putting him in line to make his NFL debut. The Seahawks also elevated running back Velus Jones Jr. for the second time this season, and he is active and should play a big role on special teams.
Sunday's game also marks the return of quarterback Sam Darnold, who missed last week's game due to a glute injury. With Darnold back in the starting lineup and Drew Lock backing him up, Jalen Milroe is inactive but will dress as the emergency third quarterback.
With Pili out, defensive lineman Mike Morris will be active for the first time this season to give the Seahawks added depth up front.
The Commanders inactive lists includes five players inactive due to injury, all of them starters: linebacker Frankie Luvu, quarteback Jayden Daniels, safety Nick Cross, right guard Sam Cosmi and tight end Chig Okonkwo.
