RENTON, Wash – The Seahawks and UnitedHealthcare announced today that Coach Monte Kohler of O'Dea High School and Coach Keith Stamps of Deer Park High School are the Week Six NFL High School Coaches of the Week for the state of Washington.
Coach Kohler lead O'Dea to a 28-6 victory over #1 ranked Eastside Catholic. Coach Kohler has been the head football coach for the O'Dea Fighting Irish for 35 years, amassing more than 300 victories. The Fighting Irish football team have been a state power under Coach Kohler's leadership and play with tremendous discipline, character, and class. Coach Kohler is also heavily involved in the Washington State Football Coaches Association (WSFCA) and has been a mentor to other coaches across the state.
Coach Stamps lead his team to a 49-7 victory over Lakeside, improving their record to 6-0 on the season. Coach Stamps has been at the helm of the Stags football team for many years and has consistently led the team to playoff contention. The Stags play with incredible sportsmanship and exceptional effort. Coach Stamps is also a longstanding member of the WSFCA.
The Seattle Seahawks High School Coach of the Week Program, presented by UnitedHealthcare, promotes the importance of youth football. Each week during the high school football season, the Washington State Football Coaches Association selects two high school football coaches as the Coach of the Week winners. Each recipient receives a $500 grant from the NFL toward their football program. At the conclusion of the high school football season, one coach will be selected as the NFL High School Coach of the Year for the state of Washington and will receive a $2,000 grant from the NFL and $10,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare.
