SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Parker D’Anna of O’Dea High School as the week ten and final CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week for 2017. Parker will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the December 3 game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
Parker, a senior at O’Dea High School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. Parker challenges himself by taking honors classes that include Pre-Calculus Honors and Honors English, while maintaining a 3.75 GPA. Parker has impacted the O’Dea community and the Seattle community. Over the past two years, he has been the on-campus student organizer for the annual O’Dea Christmas Family Project. He has helped organize the distribution and delivery of hundreds of gifts to families throughout the Seattle area. Throughout high school he has volunteered his time as a coach at youth camps in the Burien and Normandy Park neighborhoods. Parker has played varsity football at O’Dea High School since his freshman year. This year, he was selected to be one of the team captain and leads by example in team meetings, at practice, and on the field.
Over the course of the 2017 program, 10 student athletes were selected as CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Each student athlete was recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, and was awarded a $1,000 grant to their school’s athletic department. Each winner also received media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2017 Seahawks jersey. The Seahawks awarded a total of $10,000 to Washington high schools over the course of the program.
