SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash.- The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Renée Daniela DePencier Piñero of Eastside Catholic School as the week four CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Renée will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the November 5 game vs. the Washington Redskins.
Renée, a junior at Eastside Catholic School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on her leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. She is dedicated to her academics and holds a 4.0 GPA while studying astronomy at the Washington Aerospace Scholar Program. Community service is important to Renée, she completed more than 40 hours of service last year. She is a peer tutor, volunteers at local volleyball camps, and is an assistant coach for CYO Athletics, helping her sixth grade team place first. Renée plays volleyball for Eastside Catholic and has led her team to state two out of the last three years as a varsity libero. Last year, she won the State Sportsmanship Award and is consistently recognized by her teammates and coaches for her leadership skills.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2017 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
