Christian Haynes & Beau Stephens Will Continue To Rotate At Right Guard With Anthony Bradford On Injured Reserve

Third-year guard Christian Haynes and rookie Beau Stephens will split reps, like they did in Week 2, while Anthony Bradford is on injured reserve.

With Anthony Bradford sidelined for at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve with a knee/hip injury, the plan is for Christian Haynes and Beau Stephens, who split snaps in Week 2, to continue to rotate at right guard.

"It's unfortunate with AB (Anthony Bradford)," head coach Mike Macdonald said. "Luckily AB is going to be able to make a full recovery and come back. Best version of himself yet hopefully. With the way those guys (Haynes and Stephens) played, we have great competition right there. I'm excited to see them practice. It was cool to talk to them after the game. Christian hasn't played a full game in a while, so to see him have some confidence about him. Beau playing his first NFL game, that was cool."

The Week 2 rotation featured Haynes starting and Stephens playing 39 percent of the offensive snaps.

"Whenever your number gets called after working through training camp, being with the threes, it's like a dream come true, honestly," Stephens said on his playing time. "I would say my butt fell onto the floor when he said it, but it was a cool moment."

The offensive line played well in Week 2 and helped the Seahawks rush for 162 yards and one touchdown, including a 16-play, 10-minute drive where Seattle ran the ball 15 times, including a one-yard touchdown carry by AJ Barner.

"I thought Beau handled his first actual NFL snaps pretty well," offensive coordinator Brian Fleury said. "We were deliberate in how we were going to sub him in. It wasn't a set rotation. We just knew that there were going to be times in the game where we could just say, 'Hey, this is going to be your series.' And see how he functioned. I thought he did well. And then I was happy with how Christian played, as well with the amount of snaps that he had. That's quite a bit of volume compared to what he's normally gotten."

Through his first two seasons, Haynes made an appearance in some games, in a reserve role, but hadn't started a game until last week.

While he's rotating with Stephens, Haynes said he's unbracing the "next man up" mentality.

"Just go out there and be the best teammate I can possibly be," Haynes said. "And go out there and put good tape up for the guys. Just overall, just have fun, be there for AB as well, but here it's next man up, ready squad, and it's going to be no flinch, go out there and play the same type of ball."

The rookie is viewing this opportunity as a good challenge for himself.

"Ultimately my goal is to separate myself," Stephens said. "All offensive linemen can pack a punch, but you've got to be consistent doing it, and that's my whole goal, to be more consistent."

The Seahawks continued their week of preparation for their Week 3 matchup vs. the Commanders with a practice on September 24, 2026.
