Tuesday Round-Up: 2013 Seahawks Named One Of The 20 Most Dominant Champions

The Seahawks' 2013 squad made ESPN's list of the most dominant champions.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today — Tuesday, March 20 — about your Seattle Seahawks:

The Dominant 20

For the 20th anniversary edition of ESPN The Magazine, ESPN released its list of the most dominant champions of the past 20 years.

To determine the teams, ESPN looked at the same collection of sports from their 20 most dominant athletes list and adjusted the data twice, "once to normalize teams from a given sport across time and again to put top teams across different sports on a common baseline. This means all sports and all years can be considered equal."

Among the best 20 teams to make the list is Seattle's 2013 team that defeated the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII for the first championship in franchise history. At No. 12, the Seahawks were one of two NFL teams to make the list, with the 2004 New England Patriots also qualifying at No. 15.

Here's why the Seahawks made Keating's list:

Keating's score: 1.46

Key stat: One of the most dominant defenses in NFL history, the Seahawks' D led the league in points allowed, yards allowed and takeaways -- the first team to do so since the 1985 Bears.

*Keating's take: The best defense in the NFL in at least the past 15 years (8.9 points per game better than league average, according to Pro-Football-Reference's Simple Rating System), a quarterback entering superstardom and a running back nicknamed "Beast." *
