The Seahawks are committed to furthering educational opportunities for minority students in the Seattle area. Hawks on the Yard helps strengthen our students academically, socially, and emotionally by exposing them to HBCU schools and providing additional access to career resources.

UNCF (2024-25)
UNCF (Portfolio Project Students) of Seattle has been selected as the first cohort of our new Hawks on the Yard program. UNCF is an organization that supports students of color attend HBCUs and other College and Universities. UNCF's Portfolio Project is a free college preparatory program targeted at students of color and underrepresented high school juniors and seniors across Washington, Oregon and beyond.
The Seahawks support Whole Mentoring and the Office of African Male Achievement as we kickstarted our efforts around amplifying HBCU schools to high school students within this group in 2022. We continue to support this great organization and highlight our partnership.
Learn from the experiences and joy of 16 students from Seattle Public Schools who are enrolled in the WHOLE Mentoring program. They were joined by Bobby Wagner as they visited six HBCUs, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and much more this offseason. White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics
Originally established in 1990, the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity for Hispanics (Initiative) was re-established in 2021 and was expanded to center on advancing educational equity and economic opportunity for Latino and Hispanic students, families, and communities.
Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) significantly impacts students' lives by offering a comprehensive pathway from high school to career. Through scholarships, capacity building and research initiatives, innovative programs, and strategic partnerships, TMCF is a vital resource from kindergarten through higher education. To date, the organization has awarded more than $500 million in assistance to its students and member-schools. TMCF distributes 98% of its awards exclusively to HBCUs, PBIs and HBCCs, which is more than any other organization that supports the Black college community.
