Seattle Seahawks Coach of the Week

Since taking over the Chiawana Riverhawks football program in 2020, Head Coach Scott Bond has helped establish a culture of sustained success both on the field and in the classroom.

Under Coach Bond's leadership, Chiawana has captured league championships and advanced to the state playoffs in five of his six seasons, including a third-place state finish in 2024. His leadership and commitment to the program have also earned him MCC Coach of the Year honors four times.

At the foundation of the Chiawana football program are five core values: Trust, Coachability, Discipline, Preparation, and Commitment. Coach Bond and his staff work to instill these principles in their athletes every day, with the belief that success is built through consistent habits, accountability, and a commitment to something bigger than oneself.

That commitment extends beyond the football field. Coach Bond maintains high expectations for his players in the classroom and believes academic achievement is an essential part of developing well-rounded young men. That emphasis on academics helped Chiawana football earn the 2023 Washington State Academic Championship.

Perhaps most importantly, Coach Bond is quick to point out that the success of Chiawana football is not the achievement of one individual. He credits the dedicated coaches and staff who work together every day with a shared commitment to doing what is best for their athletes. The program's accomplishments are a reflection of that collective effort, the culture they have built together, and the trust they have developed with their players and families.

Being recognized as the Seahawks Coach of the Week for the state of Washington is a meaningful honor for Coach Bond, but he views the recognition as a reflection of the entire Chiawana football family — his coaching staff, players, families, school, and community — who have all played a role in building the program into what it is today.

Coach Mazen Saade has been a fixture at Onalaska High School for the past 18 years, including 16 years as the head coach of Logger Football. He has been coaching football for 24 years, beginning his career with two years as an assistant coach at Rochester High School, followed by three years as an assistant coach at W.F. West High School.

During his tenure at Onalaska, Coach Saade has led the Loggers to eight consecutive state playoff appearances, including two third-place finishes and a State Championship in 2019.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Saade has served as the Athletic Director for the Onalaska School District for the past three years. He also serves as the West Coordinator for the Earl Barden 2A-1A-B East-West All-State Football Game, helping coordinate and lead the West team in one of Washington's premier high school all-star football events.

When asked about being selected as the Seahawks Coach of the Week, Saade was quick to shift the recognition away from himself and toward the people who make the program special:

"I am incredibly humbled and appreciative of this award. I will accept this on behalf of our players, coaches, and the entire Onalaska community. They are the ones who truly deserve the recognition. I am fortunate to be surrounded by great people who continue to make Logger Football special. This award belongs to all of them. Thank you, and remember… Keep Diggin'!"

A Seattle native, Coach Rob Jones has dedicated his life to the game of football, first as a standout player and now as a respected leader on the sidelines. Jones began his football journey at Franklin High School, where he was a four-year starting running back and earned First Team All-Metro honors in each of his four seasons while helping the Quakers remain among the top-ranked teams in the state. He went on to play running back for three seasons at Grambling State University under legendary head coach Eddie Robinson, an experience that helped shape his approach to leadership, discipline, and mentorship. Since entering the coaching profession in 2005, Jones has served in a variety of roles at Lindbergh, Tyee, Franklin, Rainier Beach, Highline, Renton, Foster, and Garfield high schools. Along the way, he has helped guide teams to postseason success, contributed to program turnarounds, and built a reputation for developing young athletes both on and off the field. While at Franklin, he helped transform an 0-8 team into a Metro Championship contender, and at Foster High School, he was part of the staff that helped deliver the program's first playoff victory since 2009.

Now leading Garfield High School, Jones brings more than two decades of coaching experience, a passion for player development, and a commitment to building a winning culture that continues to make a lasting impact on the students and communities he serves.

Coach Marshall Hart has been a driving force behind Northwest Christian football since the program's inception in 2013. Beginning as the running backs coach before serving as offensive coordinator, Hart took over as head coach in 2019 and has spent the past 13 seasons helping build the Crusaders into one of the state's most successful small-school football programs. His coaching philosophy is rooted in developing selfless leaders who serve others both within the program and throughout the community, a commitment that has become a cornerstone of Northwest Christian football. In addition to his role at Northwest Christian, Hart has spent the past 10 seasons working in the Indoor Football League and currently serves as the Director of Player Personnel for the San Antonio GunSlingers. Under his leadership, the Crusaders have earned six state playoff appearances, two league championships, and two third-place state finishes. When notified of his Seahawks Coach of the Week recognition, Hart was quick to credit those around him, saying, "It is an incredible honor and very humbling to be named Seahawks Coach of the Week. Truly though this belongs to our incredible coaching staff that pours hours into our young men and helping them grow both in the game of football and their walk with the Lord. We have an amazing group of young men that have turned into incredible fathers and husbands that have come through our program that have set a standard for what it means to be a Crusader, as well as the support from my amazing wife and the community as a whole that allow me to be a part of this program." Through his leadership, Northwest Christian has built a tradition of success defined not only by championships and playoff appearances, but by the lasting impact made on the student-athletes who come through the program.
