2020 Week 13: 12 Flag Raiser - Washington State Educators

The Seahawks raised 12 Flags at the schools of 2021 Washington State Teacher of the Year Brooke Brown, and 2020 Washington State Classified School Employee of the Year Melito Ramirez to celebrate Washington State Educators being selected as the honorary 12 Flag raisers for Week 13 vs. the New York Giants.

The Seahawks, with help from the 12s, surprised super fan Patti 'Mama Blue' Hammond with a parade to celebrate her 90th birthday, along with some very special news: her selection as a 2020 NFL Fan of the Year Finalist. The league will crown the top fan at the NFL Honors awards show on February 6th. Congrats, Mama Blue!

For the hard work they've put in every single day of the season to keep Seahawks players and staff safe and healthy, our COVID-19 testers were selected as the honorary 12 Flag raisers for the Wild Card game vs. the Los Angeles Rams on January 9. Seahawks players, in partnership with the Seattle Foundation, have allocated $250,000 to a college scholarship fund to help build a more compassionate and inclusive society by supporting career opportunities for students who have overcome significant adversity, with preference given to students of color and first-generation college students. Seahawks team president Chuck Arnold joined the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe for a private religious ceremony to bless the newly installed Muckleshoot Plaza gate artwork. The Seahawks and the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe agreed to a 10-year partnership last year which included naming rights to the north plaza at Lumen Field.

To boost student morale, Seahawks and Amazon hosted a virtual event for Renton High School students to discuss navigating obstacles in school and careers, all part of the recently launched Digital Equity Initiative. Participants included linebacker K.J. Wright, former Seahawks players Ben Obomanu and Jordan Babineaux, and Amazon Web Services senior manager Brandon Middleton.
