He was 5-3 and 130 pounds as a freshman before gaining nearly 35 pounds and eight inches of height during his high school career. Thomas II started gaining attention of colleges as a senior, and decided on Yale because they had a good football program, but he also wanted a school that had a great academic program. Even though he was playing Division I football, he wasn't done growing. Thomas II sprouted up to 6-2, 200 pounds, as a senior at Yale and played multiple positions, including defensive back and linebacker. He compares his growth spurt to NBA player Anthony Davis, who gained nearly 10 inches of height during his high school career before starring at Kentucky.
