Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson Named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 227-yard, three-touchdown night in Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

For the second time this season and seventh time in his career, Russell Wilson has been named Offensive Player of the Week in the NFC, tying former Seattle running back Shaun Alexander for the most Player of the Week honors in franchise history.

On Sunday Night Football, Wilson completed 20-of-31 throws for 227 yards and three touchdowns, helping lead the Seahawks to an impressive 24-10 victory over NFL-leading Philadelphia. The Week 13 performance came in front of a national television audience and helped vault Wilson into the League-wide MVP conversation

"I try to just do my job," Wilson said this past weekend when asked if the primetime matchup against Carson Wentz and the Eagles gave him any extra motivation. "My job is to help our football team win, and that's really all that matters. … I think for me, it's really just doing my job and trying to do it really, really well and trying to make the other 10 guys better. That's really all that I ever focus on, all that I ever have focused on. Those guys make me look good. I just try to make the plays, and try to continue to trust in them and what they're doing, and we always find a way."

Wilson's first NFC Offensive Player of the Week award this year came in early November following the Seahawks' 41-38 victory over the Houston Texans. In that game, Wilson passed for a franchise-record 452 yards and threw four touchdowns, rallying the club for a three-play, 80-yard drive in the final minutes to stake Seattle its fourth win in a row at the time.

Wilson is also up for Clutch Performer of the Week for his outing against the Eagles. Fans can vote for Wilson online through 12 p.m. PT this Friday, December 8 over at
