Russell Wilson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his Week 1 performance in Atlanta.

Russell Wilson began his 2020 season by completing seven straight passes on the Seahawks' first offensive possession of the season, the last of them a touchdown pass to Chris Carson.

Wilson eventually extended that hot start to 12 straight completions, and while he did eventually throw an incompletion, he never really cooled off, putting together one of the better passing performances of his career in Seattle's 38-25 victory over the Falcons.

For his play in a game that saw him throw as many touchdown passes (four) as incompletions, Wilson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, marking the 10th time in his career Wilson has earned Player of the Week honors, adding to his franchise leading total.

Wilson completed 88.6 percent of his passes, a career high and franchise record that is also tied for the third best mark in league history for a quarterback attempting at least 35 passes. Wilson also threw for 322 yards, four touchdowns and had a passer rating of 143.1, all career-best marks for him in an opener. Wilson also joined Hall of Famer Steve Young as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to pass for more than 30,000 yards in a career while also rushing for more than 4,000.

"What we've been doing in practice showed up," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said after the game. "Russ has been extraordinary all camp. He had a great summer throwing the ball to everybody and he had perhaps his best throwing day, numbers wise, just about as you could have… Russ was in total command of the game and had a beautiful game."

Wilson earned Player of the Week honors twice last season, taking home that award in Week 2 and Week 9.
