Seahawks New Running Back Jadarian Price's 'Leadership,'  'Resiliency' & 'Humility' Make Him A Seahawk

Running back Jadarian Price is an explosive playmaker, with big-play ability, but also full of “loyalty," “humility” and “resiliency.”

Three things to best describe Jadarian Price are all things that have nothing to do with football: adversity, his hometown and giving back. Price, a third-team All-American out of Notre Dame, who played alongside Jeremiyah Love, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, prides himself on going through adversity and taking advantage of any opportunity that comes his way. And while outsiders may have questioned Price staying at Notre Dame and sharing a backfield with Love, Price said he didn't see it as a negative.

"The biggest thing was, take advantage of every single opportunity," he said. "That's what I've been doing my whole life since I was a kid in Pee Wee…But also just the guy [Love] is and, reminding me that it's a game at the end of the day, just go out there and have fun, and I did that."

And while he did have other teams interested in him transferring, he felt the smarter decision was to stay and learn what he could from Love.

"It was in my heart to stay at Notre Dame," Price said. "It's a place I love and built a relationship with those guys in the locker room, and what we had done the year before, go to the National Championship, that's what I wanted to do, and that's why I wanted to stay there. But also made a challenge to myself, as well. Split reps with the best player in college football, and I did that, and I showed what I could do at the highest level. Sitting here now, and it was the greatest decision I could have made."

The decision to stay is core to who Price is. He said going through adversity challenges a person to grow. And he experienced that first-hand, watching his mom beat breast cancer.

"It's inspired me a lot," Price said. "Specifically, the idea of going through adversity and I truly believe that in order to grow, you have to go through pain and adversity. Watching my mom go through that, it made me believe there's nothing that can stop me from achieving my dreams because she went through the worst so what's one more bad day or adversity for me. I can always get through it."

During an interview with Good Morning Football leading up to the draft, Price said, "My mom's been through a lot and watching her go through one of the hardest adversities ever, it made me feel like I can get through anything and challenge myself and never take anything for granted. She's been with me along the way, she's made every single game that she could possibly make. This was the first year that she was able to make every single game, because I told her, I think this is going to be my last year at Notre Dame and she made it her goal to stop what she was doing and make sure she came to every game. And she's been super supportive and she's definitely my why and my motivation as I'm going to the next level."

When he received his draft call, he was with his mom, as well as teammates, coaches and other family. And the wait until the 32nd pick to realize his aspirations were coming true was a stressful time.

"Well, honestly, if we're being real, once it got closer, I was like, 'Man, I don't think it's going to happen.' So I kept going back and forth and checking my friend's phone just to see, you know, if the pick was still there, and then once the pick came up, I was on my way to the couch. My phone started ringing. I'm like, 'Oh, it, it can't be real.' And then, so I was rushed with emotions on that."

Just the realization that my dreams are coming true, and all the hard work that I put in and especially [to have] my day ones here with me today at my draft party, got to witness it themselves and it's just been a dream come true."

He added, "I thought I would be a little more calm, but that phone call was a little different when you get that phone call. It's just immediate tears and joy."

The choice to stay in his hometown of Denison, Texas was an intentional one. His hometown means so much to him and he means so much to his hometown, that earlier this year, Denison, Texas named January 20, 2026, Jadarian Price Day.

"If I was a projected top 10 pick, I still feel like I would have did it in Denison, Texas," he said. "Over going to the draft, even though growing up, it was my dream to walk that stage and shake Roger Goodell's hand, but I think being here where I grew up and where it all started means more."

From Price, the Seahawks are going to get "A dynamic playmaker who brings his A game every day, elite effort and attitude, contagious energy and a winning performance every day."

And to welcome the running back to Seattle was, Make-A-Wish child, Dylan, who is a two-time cancer survivor, and had the wish to announce the Seahawks first-round draft pick.

"I thought it was pretty ironic and blessing considering his adversity he had been through with some cancer," Price said. "And then I look over to my mom and then realizing what she had been through too, and it just seemed like it all came full circle and having someone like that battling, overcoming something like that and, and being able to call my name out there, it's a blessing and I'm truly honored and I'm thankful for him for doing that."
