The Seahawks bolstered their interior defensive line depth on Day 3 of the draft, selecting Deven Eastern, a nose tackle out of Minnesota, with the second of their three seventh-round picks, No. 242 overall.

Eastern, who is 6-foot-5, 320 pounds, was a three-year starter for Minnesota, starting all 39 games over the past three seasons. In 2025, he earned honorable mention All-Big Ten Conference honors, recording 38 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

"It was a dream come true," Eastern said of getting the call from the Seahawks. "Just to even get a call was a dream, but to be able to get a call from such a great team and such a great staff and organization was everything."

Eastern adds interior depth to an already very strong defensive line, and said he will bring versatility and violence to that position group.

"I see myself as a versatile defensive tackle," he said. "I can play shade, I can play 2 I, I can play 3, I can play big [end]. Any of those spots, I feel comfortable with playing and I'm willing to play."

"The first thing that comes to mind when you think of a defensive tackle is violent, and that's what I am. I like to bring the energy, I like to be violent. I like to be in the backfield and just ultimately be a disruptive player."

As for joining a group that already includes the likes of Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II and Jarran Reed, Eastern said, "It's amazing being able to watch those guys go to work and learn from them. Especially as a rookie coming in. It means the world to me. Like I said, great players and great staff. I can't wait to get in there and learn from those guys, watch how they do things, their processes and whatnot."

Three-year starter with a long wingspan but inconsistencies in his game and a lack of standout production. Eastern plays with loose upper-body movement that helps him slip blocks and find gaps. He uses his length effectively to disengage when he times it right. However, his high-cut frame and below-average pad level create persistent issues anchoring and maintaining gap integrity, especially against zone blocks. He ends up on the ground too often and hasn't proven he can create consistent pressure as a rusher. Eastern's size and length might be best utilized in a wider alignment as an odd-front end.
