Nehemiah Pritchett might have had one of the better plays of Sunday's matchup against the San Francisco 49ers after delivering a very well-timed hit on 49ers punt returner Jacob Cowing.
Cowing positioned himself under the punt and looked like he caught it, but was beginning to lose control just as Pritchett landed the hit on him. The ball flew away from Cowing and Seahawks tight end Eric Saubert recovered the ball. While Pritchett didn't cause the muff, his hit ensured Cowing wasn't able to get to recover the ball.
"Nehemiah (Pritchett) played a great game, man," head coach Mike Macdonald said Sunday night. "Probably the best play was the special teams play. Guy's playing double duty as a gunner and as a corner for us. The guy should be really proud of himself (and) the position he's put himself in. He's playing really good football."
After the 49ers turnover, Seattle was able to use the advantage of a short field and gained the remaining 24 yards on six plays for a touchdown score. Seahawks running back Emanuel Wilson found the end zone on a two-yard rush. tying game at 7-7 following a successful point-after attempt by kicker Jason Myers.
