During the first half of Seattle's 38-14 win over the Washington Commanders, quarterback Sam Darnold had a perfect half, throwing 16-of-16 for 282 yards and four touchdowns before halftime, recording a 158.3 passer rating for the first two quarters. The first touchdown of the game was a four-yard reception by rookie Tory Horton.

Seattle started that Horton touchdown drive at their own 10-yard line. On the 12-play drive, the Seahawks ran the ball five times, all by Kenneth Walker III for 26 yards. Although Seattle was set back 24 yards on the scoring drive, by a chop block and two false start penalties, the Seahawks found a way to convert both of their third downs, a third-and-three and third-and-five following one of the false start penalties.

Four different pass catchers caught a pass from Darnold during the drive. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had three catches for 38 yards, AJ Barner had one reception for eight yards, Walker had a catch for 14 yards and Horton had 22 yards and a touchdown on three catches.

After the game, head coach Mike Macdonald said, "So, [QB] Sam [Darnold], our offense did a tremendous job, especially in the first half. Really a great team effort, great game plan by our coaches. But, Sam's execution right now, he's just ridiculous, just plain to sight. All the things we talked about that he's been doing, but decisive, making smart decisions. Our receivers doing a great job. I thought the protection was really good."
