The Seahawks' 2023 schedule was announced on Thursday, and for the first time in franchise history, Seattle will host a game on Thanksgiving, with the 49ers coming to town for a prime-time game at Lumen Field.
That NFC West Thanksgiving showdown is one of three prime-time games on the Seahawks' schedule, along with a Thursday night game at Dallas and a Monday Night Football matchup in New York against the Giants. This will be the second time the Seahawks have played two Thursday games in one season, having also done so in 2014 when, as the defending Super Bowl champions, they hosted the NFL season-opener on a Thursday, then played on Thanksgiving later that season.
With the league going to a 17-game schedule in 2021, conferences alternate having eight or nine home games each year, and this season the Seahawks will be home for eight games and on the road for nine, though that does mean only one road preseason game vs. two preseason games at Lumen Field.
The Seahawks open the regular season at home for the second straight season, hosting the Rams in what will be their first opener against an NFC West opponent since they played at St. Louis in 2015.
In Week 2 the Seahawks head to Detroit where they'll face the Lions, who helped send Seattle to the playoffs last season with a Week 18 win over the Packers. Week 3 will see the Panthers and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young come to Lumen Field for the 12th meeting between Carolina and Seattle since 2012, postseason included.
The Seahawks head east in Week 4 to play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, their first of seven games against a team that made the playoffs last season. That game will be followed by a Week 5 bye, Seattle's earliest bye since the 2016 season.
The Seahawks will play at Cincinnati after the bye, one of their four games kicking off at 10 a.m. PT, then will play back-to-back home games, hosting Arizona, in Week 7 and Cleveland in Week 8.
Week 9 brings another trip east, with Seattle playing at Baltimore, then in Week 10 the Seahawks will host the Washington Commanders. Beginning with a Week 11 game at the Rams, the Seahawks will play four of their next six on the road.
The Seahawks host the 49ers on Thanksgiving in Week 12, Seattle's first home Thanksgiving game, and its first game on that holiday since a 2014 win over the 49ers in Santa Clara. That game kicks off what, on paper at least, looks to be the toughest part of the schedule, with the Seahawks playing at Dallas the following Thursday, then playing at San Francisco in Week 14 before hosting the Eagles in Week 15. That's four straight games against 2022 playoff teams, including the two teams that played for the NFC championship, the first of which comes on a short week.
The Seahawks are back on the road in Week 16 for a Christmas Eve game at the Titans, then back home to host the Steelers on New Year's Eve.
The Seahawks will close out the season on the road in Arizona for the second time in three seasons, a game that could be played on either Saturday, January 6 or Sunday January 7.
As for the preseason, dates and times of games have not yet been released, but the Seahawks will open the preseason with a home game against Minnesota. Dallas will come to Seattle for Week 2 of the preseason, then the Seahawks will wrap up preseason play with a game at Green Bay.
