Good morning, 12s. Here's a look at what's out there today — Monday, March 28 — about your Seattle Seahawks.

GM John Schneider Ranked Among NFL's Best Draft Day Traders

By now, most 12s are familiar with Seahawks general manager John Schneider's approach to the NFL draft. Trading down has become the norm, with Schneider and the Seahawks often opting to turn higher picks into a greater number of selections overall.

But just as much as Schneider has traded down in the draft, he's also traded up as much as all but two GMs in the league between 2011 and 2021.

Simply put, Schneider is one of the most active executives in the league come draft time. And, as it turns out, his draft day moves have been some of the most effective in the league as well.

Last week, Connor McQuiston of Pro Football Focus analyzed moves made by GMs over the last five drafts to see which teams gained the most value from their draft day trades. Among the 18 GMs who made at least five draft day trades between 2017 and 2021, Schneider and the Seahawks ranked second in average value gained per draft.

"Schneider has done arguably the best job of any current NFL GM of securing draft capital during the event's three nights," McQuiston said. "Particularly in the first two nights of the draft, Schneider has done an excellent job trading down and accumulating picks throughout Day 2, which is undervalued by the standard Jimmy Johnson trade value chart and grants them the luxury to trade up on Day 3."

McQuiston says that Schneider's best move during this period was in 2019, when he traded the Seahawks' 21st overall pick to the Packers for picks number 30, 114, and 118.

In first place on McQuiston's list was Carolina Panthers GM Scott Fitterer, who spent 20 seasons with the Seahawks from 2001 through 2020 in various personnel and executive roles.
