Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III was a difference maker in the Seahawks' Thursday night win. Seattle's first two scoring drives were made possible by big plays from Walker. On Seattle's first touchdown drive, Walker caught a short pass from quarterback Sam Darnold and takes off for 46 yards. The Seahawks go on to score a touchdown. Then on Seattle's second scoring drive, Walker breaks away from tackles for a 55-yard touchdown run.
Walker finished the game with 100 yards on 11 rushing attempts and one touchdown. He also added three receptions for 64 yards, a season high.
On that play, rookie Grey Zabel was the leading blocker and Walker said, "We always talk about the O-line. None of this success we have as a run game is possible without them. So having him in front of me and he showed his athleticism on that play."
This is just the second 100-yard rushing game for Walker this season.
"I believe we just executed better," he said. "All week we talked about the run game and ways that we can spring it open, so the execution was much better this week."
On his touchdown run, he reached a top speed of 21.07 mph, which is the 4th-fastest speed of his career according to Next Gen Stats.
And Walker didn't just help out in the run and pass game, he also had one of head coach Mike Macdonald's favorite plays. In the third quarter, Darnold threw an interception and Walker was able to chase down Rams cornerback Josh Wallace at the one-yard line, keeping him from scoring.
"Talk about favorite plays of just who Ken Walker is, I mean, that's Seahawks football," Macdonald said. "That's us right there and that's Ken. So we love him. That's a phenomenal, phenomenal play. Helped us win the game.
