PITTSBURGH—When Sam Darnold tossed a pitch to Kenneth Walker III late in Sunday's game, he figured it was a good play to bleed a little clock and set up a Jason Myers field goal to extend Seattle's lead.

After all, it was third-and-goal from the 19-yard line, hardly a situation that lends itself a high rate of conversion, especially not on a running play. But following strong blocking on the left side of the line, Walker provided a reminder that he is one of the league's most explosive backs, sprinting 19 yards to the endzone to give the Seahawks a game-clinching score in a 31-17 win over the Steelers.

"Every time I touch the ball, I'm trying to score, and the O-line opened a hole up to the left side, and I barely had to make anyone miss," Walker said. "They made my job easier, and shoot, we scored."

While Walker, and his teammates, are confident in him every time he gets the ball in his hands, his ability to turn a likely field goal attempt into a 19-yard victory cigar was an awfully impressive way for Walker to cap his first 100-yard game since Week 1 of last season.

"It was an incredible play to watch from my angle," Darnold said. "Just thinking I'm going to pitch it—and I'm always confident; let me start by saying I'm always confident in our guys that we'll be able to go third-and-19, not matter what we're going to be able to score—but I was kind of pitching it just telling him, 'Hey, stay in bounds here, we need the clock to run.' And getting ready to send the field goal unit on. Sure enough, he breaks a couple of tackles, and I knew he had a chance. Ken's got a chance every single play he touches the rock. It was an incredible play by him and our offensive line."

"That was a hell of a play," added running back George Holani, who scored a crucial touchdown on special teams earlier in the fourth quarter. "Third and forever, no one expects a run, and he made it happen. He hit wide zone to the left and got up out of there and scored a touchdown."

For Walker and Seattle's running game as a whole, Sunday was a nice bounce back from a Week 1 performance in which the Seahawks averaged just 3.2 yards per carry as a team, with Walker being held to 20 yards on 10 carries.

A week later, Walker turned 13 carries into 105 yards and that crucial score, with 79 of those yards coming in the second half.

"It always feels good to get a 100-yard game," Walker said. "I feel like that shows we're being productive in the run game, and up front they're doing a great job. You don't get 100 yards without the offensive line."

The Seahawks bounced back and earned their first victory in 2025 by defeating the Steelers 31-17 in Pittsburgh. Check out the best postgame celebration photos from the Week 2 win.
