Jason Myers Has "A Great Bounce-Back" Performance In Seahawks' Win Over Panthers

Apparently Jason Myers likes a good Super Bowl anniversary celebration.

On the day members of the 2013 Seahawks team were in attendance to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Super Bowl-winning season, Seattle's kicker made all five field goal attempts to help his team to a 37-27 win over the Panthers.

The five makes are tied for the second most in a game in Myers' career, trailing only a 2018 game when he went 7 for 7 on a day the Jets were celebrating the 50th anniversary of a championship season.

By making all five of his field goals, Myers kept the Seahawks in the game early when the offense struggled to convert on third down and finish in the red zone, then in the second half the Seahawks were able to blow the game open once they started scoring touchdowns.

Myers' standout game comes one week after he missed two field goals in the first half of a win over the Lions, his second and third misses of the season, matching his total number of misses in the entire 2022 season when he earned Pro-Bowl honors. Since those misses, Myers has made six straight field goal attempts and all five extra point attempts in the last game and a half.

"What a great bounce-back," Carroll said. "He's a great player. (The misses) was something else, this was him."

Myers downplayed the idea of a big turnaround, saying, "I'm always working, always trying to get better. I've got some people I trust, so I kind of worked through some things and got back to who I am."

On having to make kick after kick to keep the Seahawks in the game in the first half, he said, "I really have a good mindset of trying to go 1 for 1, making whatever that kick is in front of me my best kick. Good or bad, I have a 2-minute rule in my head—after 2 minutes, back to it. That's the mindset that I take."

That mindset helped Myers come through in a big way on a day the Seahawks needed him at his best to beat the Panthers.
