Fantasy Football Week 6 Start 'Em Guide: Prime Lineup Picks

Seahawks fantasy insider Scott Engel gets you ready for Week 6 with tips for setting your lineup

WKFF-16x9

Fantasy football managers truly earn their wins in weeks like this one, as the bye weeks start to make a significant impact in lineup decisions, along with a multitude of injuries. Four teams (Detroit, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Miami) are off in NFL Week 6.

We suggest ideal lineup replacements and streamers at all positions. The analysis leans to PPR formats and players are listed in order of lineup preference.

NFL Week 6: Running Backs To Start

START Rhamondre Stevenson, NE: The New England offense is back on track, producing 74 points in its last two games. Stevenson rushed for a touchdown in each of those outings, and he finished as a top 15 fantasy RB in both of those games.

Last week, Stevenson finished as RB8, as he totaled 78 yards from scrimmage and caught three passes for the third consecutive game. In NFL Week 6, the Patriots draw the rival Jets, who rank 24th in the league in Fantasy Points Per Game allowed to RBs. Stevenson should post satisfying fantasy numbers as an RB2 this week.

START Bucky Irving, TB: With Baker Mayfield still out, the Buccaneers must rely more on their RBs. That fact was evident last week when Irving carried the ball 21 times vs. Dallas. Giving the ball to Irving regularly worked out well, as he rushed for a career-high 165 yards and a TD and added a receiving TD.

We saw the best of Irving last week, as he displayed good vision, nifty cutback moves, and open-field speed. Expect another productive performance this week vs. the Steelers, who rank 21st in FFPG allowed to RBs**.** To free Irving up more, he may get the ball in space enough as a receiver to challenge the defense.

START Emanuel Wilson, Seahawks: In a week where injuries and bye weeks can create fantasy football lineup holes, the consistent volume of Wilson is an asset to your fantasy team. He has carried the ball 20-plus times in three of his past four games.

In his last two games, Wilson has registered three TDs from scrimmage. He also gets a good matchup against the Broncos' run defense. Denver ranks 29th in the NFL in rushing yards per game allowed (145.2).

START Marshawn Lloyd, GB: He is the short-yardage and goal-line RB for the Packers, who rang up 31 points against Chicago last week. Lloyd rushed for two TDs last week, and Green Bay should get into a high-scoring affair vs. Dallas.

The Cowboys also allow an NFL-high 168.4 rushing yards per game, so Lloyd should have an opportunity to post adequate rushing totals, too. He is a viable NFL Week 6 fantasy football fill-in option at RB or a flex position.

More fantasy football RBs to start in Week 6: Many fantasy managers have to dig deeper to fill lineup holes this week and can consider Tony Pollard (TEN vs. IND), Blake Corum (LAR vs. ARI), Kendre Miller (NO vs. NYG) and Jaleel McLaughlin (CLE vs. BAL). When mulling over a one-week fill-in play, fantasy leaguers should opt for the RBs that might be in line for a decent amount of touches.

NFL Week 6: Wide Receivers To Start

START Jalen Coker, CAR: The Panthers' WR appears to be on track to return from a quadriceps injury this week, and he should immediately be activated for fantasy football lineups. Coker finished as the No. 1 WR in fantasy football in Week 1, as he caught eight passes for 138 yards and two TDs.

Coker caught eight of nine targets in each of the first two games of the season. He is returning to Carolina offense that has started to climb new heights this year. The Panthers rank fourth in the NFL in points per game (30.3) and the passing game ranks second in the NFL. The Eagles rank 27th in FFPG allowed to WRs.

START Denzel Boston, CLE: The rookie has quickly emerged as the top receiving playmaker for Deshaun Watson. He was targeted seven times in three of the past four games, and he has caught three TD passes in five games so far this season.

Boston is actually leading the NFL at 20.8 yards per reception. He is a big target who is also a deep threat. Boston has added a new downfield dimension to the Cleveland passing game. He is working through a foot injury, but was able to practice and should be ready to go against a Ravens defense that ranks 22nd in FFPG allowed to WRs.

The matchup between Baltimore and Cleveland will also carry a lot of importance, as the Ravens lead the AFC North at 4-1, and the improving Browns (3-2) will be looking to make a statement against a longtime rival. Boston will be counted on to deliver some key plays against the Ravens.

START Luther Burden III, CHI: Caleb Williams should return for the Bears this week, boosting the outlook of the Chicago offense. Burden has not delivered the type of fantasy outing that was expected of him in the preseason just yet. But this could be a breakout week against the Falcons.

Atlanta ranks 25th in FFPG allowed to WRs, and Burden should be able to get loose for some downfield targets. He has been targeted at least six times in every game this season, and Williams can make the Falcons' defense pay for their aggressiveness up front by scrambling and finding Burden for a sizable gain.

START Kendrick Bourne, ARI: After Marvin Harrison Jr. was traded to Houston, an increased role in the Cardinals' passing game opened up for Bourne. Trey McBride and Michael Wilson are the top two targets in the Arizona passing game, but there should be enough completions and attempts from Jacoby Brissett to get more than two pass-catchers involved often enough.

Brissett ranks third in the NFL in passing attempts (199) and he is fourth in completions (132). The Cardinals may have to pass often to stay in the game or when playing from behind against the Rams this week. Bourne caught five of eight targets for 70 yards last week and is capable of bettering those totals in any game going forward.

More fantasy football WRs to start in Week 6: Here are some streaming options to consider for this week: Keon Coleman (BUF vs. TB), DeMario Douglas (NE vs. NYJ),  Carnell Tate (TEN vs. IND), Jakobi Meyers (JAC vs. HOU), Tre Tucker (LV vs. BUF), Germie Bernard (PIT vs. TB), Darius Cooper (PHI vs. CAR) and Brandin Cooks (SF vs. WAS).

NFL Week 6: Quarterbacks To Start

START Bryce Young, CAR: We already highlighted the sparkling numbers generated by the Carolina offense and passing game so far this season. Young has finished as a top 7 QB in three of four games played, and the Eagles' passing defense ranks 26th in the NFL.

START Kirk Cousins, LV: In four of five games so far this season, Cousins has finished as a top 10 fantasy QB. He passed for two TDs in all four of those games and registered three TD passes in three outings. Buffalo fields the AFC's lowest-ranked pass defense.

More fantasy football WRs to start in Week 6: Jameis Winston (NYG vs. NO), Aaron Rodgers (PIT vs. TB), Jacoby Brissett (ARI vs. LAR), C.J. Stroud (HOU vs. JAC).

NFL Week 6: Tight Ends To Start

START Tyler Higbee: He has resurfaced as a starting option and is producing quality numbers despite playing alongside two premier WRs. In the last two games, Higbee caught 18 of 23 targets. Arizona ranks 29th in FFPG allowed to TEs**.**

START Dallas Goedert: Injuries have ripped through the Eagles' offense, but Goedert was thankfully able to return last week. He caught six of nine targets. Carolina ranks 26th in FFPG allowed to TEs**.**

More fantasy football TEs to start in Week 6: Pat Freiermuth (PIT vs. TB),  Juwan Johnson (NO vs. NYG), Kyle Pitts Sr. (ATL vs. CHI).

NFL Week 6 defenses to stream: New England (vs. NYJ), New Orleans (vs. NYG), New York Jets (vs. NE), New York Giants (vs. NO).

NFL Week 6 kickers to add/stream: Dominic Zvada (NYG vs. NO), Trey Smack (GB vs. DAL) Chris Boswell (PIT vs. TB), Drew Stevens (WAS vs. SF).
