Seahawks Sign 16 Undrafted Free Agents

The Seahawks signed 16 undrafted free agents ahead of this weekend’s rookie minicamp.

With rookie minicamp kicking off this week, the Seahawks filled out their roster by signing 16 undrafted free agents on Friday.

This year's UDFA class includes University of Washington tight end Jack Westover, a Bellevue native who helped the Huskies reach the national championship game; San Jose State quarterback Chevan Cordeiro, the Mountain West Conference's all-time leader in total touchdowns, total yards and completions; Houston edge rusher Nelson Ceaser, a first-team All-Big 12 selection and team captain who led his team with 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks last season; South Dakota State tackle Garret Greenfield, a three-time first-team FCS All-American; and Grambling State outside linebacker Sunny Anderson, a first-team All-SWAC selection who had 12 sacks, 24 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles over the past two seasons.

While it can be challenging for undrafted rookies to make the team, the Seahawks have a strong history of UDFAs making their mark with the franchise, a list that includes, during president of football operations/general manager John Schneider's tenure, receivers Doug Baldwin and Jermaine Kearse, defensive backs DeShawn Shead and Jeron Johnson, defensive tackle Poona Ford, running back Thomas Rawls and several current Seahawks like receiver Jake Bobo, tackle George Fant and linebacker Jon Rhattigan.

Here are more details on each of the UDFAs who will be battling for roster spots this season, starting with this weekend's minicamp:

OLB Sunny Anderson, Grambling State

COLLEGE: Started 32 of 46 games played at Grambling State over six seasons (2018-23). A three-time All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection, he was named first-team All-SWAC after his final season where he contributed 60 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, five sacks (9th SWAC) and two forced fumbles, and over his final two seasons had 12.0 sacks, 24 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles.

PERSONAL: Anderson played multiple sports during his time at North Clayton High. He was a first-team all-county selection after recording nine sacks for the Eagles during his senior season. Named an all-region 4-AAAA and Atlanta Journal Constitution's All-Southside selection. Also played for the basketball and baseball programs at North Clayton.

OLB Nelson Ceaser, Houston

COLLEGE: Started 23 of 44 games played for the Cougars (2019-23), starting the final two seasons of his career. Collected 103 career tackles and 18.0 sacks. During his final season, led the league in sacks per game (0.75), tallying six sacks in eight Big 12 games (9.5 for the season). Added 8.5 tackles for loss in Big 12 games, playing defensive end and linebacker. He was also named All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Defensive Player of the Year and Honorable Mention Defensive Lineman of the Year.

PERSONAL: Prepped at Ridge Point High and was a four-star recruit by Rivals and the No. 33 player in the state of Texas by Rivals. Was Ridge Point's all-time sacks leader (21.5) and finished his career with 131 tackles, 38 tackles for loss, one interception and seven forced fumbles. Posted 40 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, seven sacks along with one forced fumble as a senior. Helped Ridge Point to a 10-2 record and advanced to the second round of the Texas Class 6A Division I playoffs.

QB Chevan Cordeiro, San Jose State

COLLEGE: Started 48 of 61 games played with San Jose State (2022-23) and Hawaii (2018-21). Started all 25 games played for San Jose State and 23 of 36 games played for Hawaii. Was named All-Mountain West first-team in 2023 after becoming the all-time Mountain West leader in touchdowns responsible for (113), total yardage (13,811) and completions (971). Finished fourth all-time in Mountain West history with 88 passing touchdowns and third with 12,191 passing yards. Threw for 2,773 yards with 20 touchdowns and four interceptions in his final season of 2023. Led the Spartans to six straight wins for the first time since 2020 and two straight bowl games for the first time since 1987. Was an All-Mountain West second-team selection in his first season at San Jose State (2022). Threw for a career-high 3,251 yards and a career-high 23 touchdowns which both were tops in the Mountain West, and also ran for a career-high nine touchdowns which are most for a quarterback in San Jose State history. Was Hawaii's starter his final two seasons, and played in 36 games with 23 starts. Threw for 6,167 and 45 touchdowns during his time. His career totals for pass completions, passing yards and total offense rank fifth-best for the Rainbow Warriors.

PERSONAL: Highly-decorated high school quarterback at Saint Louis High in Honolulu. As a senior in 2017, he led the Crusaders to the HHSAA Open division championship and was named the Gatorade Hawai'i Football Player of the Year. Completed 67.4 percent of his passes with just eight interceptions for 3,130 yards and 29 touchdowns, and was a finalist for the Polynesian High School Football Player of the Year Award.

LB Easton Gibbs, Wyoming

COLLEGE: Started 39 of 46 games played in his Cowboys career. Gibbs concluded his Wyoming career ranked No. 8 in school history in total tackles with 362 career tackles. He was a two-time first-team All-Mountain West Conference in 2022 and 2023 by coaches & media, Pro Football Focus and Phil Steele. Gibbs participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl All-Star game in January to cap his final season. In 2022, recorded the first 100-tackle season of his career, with 121. He became only the 61st Cowboy in the 126-year history of Cowboys football to record 100 tackles in a single season.

PERSONAL: Played linebacker, safety and quarterback for Temecula Valley High. He was rated by Rivals and 247 Sports as a two-star recruit. During his senior season, posted 45 tackles and two interceptions, while passing for 1,619 yards and 24 touchdowns, rushing for 734 yards with nine touchdowns and accounting for 2,353 yards of total offense. He helped lead Temecula Valley to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs for Division 8.

T Garret Greenfield, South Dakota State

COLLEGE: Started 52 of 67 games played for South Dakota State, primarily at left tackle during his final two seasons. A two-time team captain (2022-23), earned Associated Press FCS All-America first-team honors from 2020-22 and Phil Steele FCS All-America first-team honors from 2020-22. During his final season, the Jackrabbits rushed for over 200 yards seven times, including all four Football Championship Subdivision playoff games. As a unit, the Jackrabbits offensive line allowed only 18 sacks in 15 games.

PERSONAL: Honored twice as his team's most valuable offensive lineman at Rock Valley High School, while also seeing action on the defensive line. In addition, he played basketball and baseball at the prep level, and was a three-time academic achievement honoree.

WR Hayden Hatten, Idaho

COLLEGE: Started 33 of 48 games played for the Vandals and was a three-time first All-Big Sky selection after the 2021-23 seasons. A team captain his final season, appeared in all 13 games and recorded 93 receptions for 1,231 yards and nine touchdowns, good for his second consecutive 1,000 receiving yard season, and led the team in catches, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Broke Idaho school record for career receiving touchdowns with 33. In 2022, appeared in 11 games for the Vandals, caught 83 passes for 1,209 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the Big Sky Conference in yards and touchdowns. Consensus All-American in 2022, including FCS ADA Wide Receiver of the Year. Set school records for touchdown receptions in a season (16) and touchdowns in a game (4).

PERSONAL: Second-team all-conference tight end as a senior at Saguaro High, helping Sabercats to state championship. Rated a three-star prospect by 247 Sports, and tallied 38 receptions for 763 yards (20.1 yards per reception), eight receiving touchdowns, two rushing touchdowns, a passing touchdown, and two sacks his senior year. Began prep career at Pinnacle High School, becoming an all-state selection as a junior, tallying 68 catches for 1,029 yards and 16 touchdowns. Graduated in the spring of 2023 with a degree in business & economics. Pursuing a masters for adult organizational leadership and counseling. Was on an award-winning entrepreneurial team with football teammates Alex Moore, Hogan Hatten and Sam Brown. The group won a $3,000 cash prize at the 2023 Idaho Entrepreneur Challenge in Boise for their U-Caddy three-wheel bicycle concept adapted to carry golf clubs.

RB George Holani, Boise State

COLLEGE: Started 36 of 48 games played for the Broncos, and was the Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year in 2019. Also a two-time All-Mountain West second-team selection and a three-time Academic All Mountain West selection (2021-23). Finished career with 3,596 rushing yards (fifth in program history), 685 career rushing attempts (fifth in program history). Started seven of eight games during his injury-shortened final season in 2023. Finished third in the Mountain West with 1,157 rushing yards and third with 13 total touchdowns after starting all 13 games played in 2022. Was named to the All-Mountain West second-team and Freshman of the Year in 2019 after playing in all 14 games and starting the final seven. Finished the season with 1,014 yards, scoring 10 total touchdowns on the year (seven rush, three receiving), and caught 26 passes for 206 yards.

PERSONAL: Prepped at St. John Bosco High and was a four-star recruit according to ESPN and 247Sports. Rated No. 17 nationally at his position by 247Sports, and No. 24 by ESPN. Rushed 136 times for 1,172 (8.6 avg.) yards and 18 touchdowns as a senior. Also caught 13 passes for 238 yards and seven scores. As a junior, picked up 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on 167 carries en route to All-CIF Southern Section Division I and first-team All-Trinity League honors.

CB Carlton Johnson, Fresno State

COLLEGE: Started 25 of 36 games played during his college career at Fresno State (2022-23), Riverside City College (2021) and Southern Utah (2018-19). Started 15 of 20 games played at Fresno State over his two seasons and was a second-team All-Mountain West selection his final season. Started in 12 of 13 games played and totaled 54 tackles (38 solo), four interceptions, and seven passes defensed. Tied the program and Mountain West record with three interceptions at Arizona State. Totaled 45 tackles in 13 games played at Riverside CC in 2021 and helped lead team to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) State Championship game. Led Southern Utah with three interceptions in 2019 and was named to the All-Big Sky Conference third-team.

PERSONAL: Part of the CIF Championship football team at Rancho Verde High School. Majored in Africana studies at Fresno State. Since 2018, became the fifth Senior Bowl participant to hit 22 mph, reaching 22.17 in 2024, ranking behind only teammate Riq Woolen's 22.45 mph mark.

DE DeVere Levelston, Southern Methodist

COLLEGE: In 2023 (as a grad student), he appeared in 13 games (three starts), recorded 50 solo tackles and 40 assisted. He had a total of 90 tackles and 1.5 sacks (all against East Carolina). Played in all 13 games as a senior in 2022, making 12 starts. Registered 27 tackles (18 solo), including 2.5 TFLs for 24 yards and two sacks. Also added a team-best two blocked kicks (6th NCAA, 2nd AAC). Played his freshman year at Tyler Junior College. Ranked as the No. 48 junior college prospect following his first season.

RB Kobe Lewis, Florida Atlantic

COLLEGE: Led the Owls versus Rice with seven carries and 82 rushing yards, including a season high 75-yard rushing TD and added two catches in his lone-season with the Owls as a graduate student in 2023. Prior to missing the 2021 season due to injury, he led the Chippewas in touchdowns (seven) and points (42) as a junior, at Central Michigan. As a sophmore, he played in all 13 games (starting in two), rushing for 1,074 yards (sixth in the MAC) on 182 carries (5.9-yard average). He totaled 12 touchdowns (sixth in the MAC and 27th in the nation in rushing touchdowns) and caught 23 passes for 164 yards. Also returned 13 kicks for 308 yards (23.7-yard avg.). Posted a career-high 161 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns vs. New Mexico State (10/12). Recorded a season-high 27 carries for 146 yards and a season-high three touchdowns vs. Akron (9/14).

PERSONAL: He is the son of Rodney and Willieann Lewis, has one brother, Jarod, and a son, Ryder. In high school, was named Co-Player of the Year in Regional 1-4A. Rushed for 1,734 yards and finished with 204 yards in receptions in his senior season and scored 25 touchdowns in 2017. Led Americus-Sumter to a 9-3 finish and second round of Class AAA playoffs.

C Mike Novitsky, Kansas

COLLEGE: Started in all 33 games played at Kansas. in 2022, recorded 5 games without allowing a single sack. In 2021, started at center all 12 games for the Jayhawks and was named to the preseason Rimington Trophy Watch List. Did not allow a sack or commit a penalty in 799 total snaps for the Jayhawks. According to PFF, was graded out at 96% or better in pass blocking efficiency in all 12 games. Led an offensive line that allowed just 16 sacks in 12 games after allowing 43 sacks in nine games in 2020 without Novitsky. Has not allowed a sack in 2,302 career collegiate snaps.

PERSONAL: Prepped at Victor High School, where he was also recruited to play lacrosse. Played defensive end and tight end for the Blue Devils and was named All-State Honorable Mention as a junior after having 53 tackles and three interceptions as well as averaged 16.2 yards per catch and scored two touchdowns. Was named a Monroe County All-Star. As a senior,, was the Monroe County Division Player of the Year and the Daily Messenger Player of the Year and also a two-time state champion in lacrosse. Majored in communication studies.

CB Ro Torrence, Arizona State

COLLEGE: Finished the 2023 season with 37 stops (2 TFL) two sacks, and one interceptions and led the team with eight pass breakups along with 36 tackles as a redshirt junior in 2022. Allowed just 20 receptions in coverage, the lowest tally among Pac-12 corners with at least 300 snaps played in coverage in the regular season and the 14th-lowest tally among all FBS corners. Also allowed just 225 yards to receivers in coverage - the lowest in the Pac-12 regular season and the 16th-lowest tally in the FBS. His 0.72 yards allowed per coverage snap was fourth in the Pac-12 and 31st in the FBS. Allowed just four plays over 15 yards against him - tied for 6th-lowest in the FBS regular season. In Cover-0 or Cover-1, Torrence allowed just five catches on 101 coverage snaps - the lowest tally among FBS corners in the regular season. Opponents managed just a 31.3 percent completion rate against him in those man coverages - the sixth-lowest in the FBS. His 50 yards allowed in Cover-0 or Cover-1 coverage were the fourth-lowest in the FBS and his forced incompletion rate of 31.3 percent was 11th among FBS corners (min. 100 Cover-0/Cover-1 snaps). Was a junior college transfer in 2021, forced fumble and added 3 tackles in the Birmingham Bowl in his first action against Akron. Was the 2020-21 NJCAA and KJCCC Defensive Player of the Year with Hutchinson Community College who went on to win the national championship. Was a first-team JUCO All-American allowing just one reception in the regular season, 28 total tackles, six passes defensed, and one interception which came in the NJCAA title game.

TE Jack Westover, Washington

COLLEGE: Appeared in 53 games for the Huskies and was named a 2023 All-Pac-12 Honorable mention. Finished the 2023 season with 433 receiving yards (third most on team and 10th-most by a Husky TE). Also recorded 46 receptions which ranked fourth-most in program history for a tight end in a single season. Caught six passes for 59 yards vs. No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl and five receptions for 42 yards in the CFP Championship Game vs. No. 1 Michigan. Played in all 13 games in 2022 with five starts. Finished fourth on the team and first among tight ends with 31 catches for 342 yards on the season. Finished his collegiate career as a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll (2019-2021) student-athlete.

PERSONAL: Attended Mount Si High School as a senior after having attended O'Dea High School in Seattle prior to that. He played football and basketball at Mount Si and helped the Wildcats to a 7-3 record as a senior in 2017. In 2016, O'Dea went 13-1, with the lone loss coming in the 3A state championship game.

WR/RS Dee Williams, Tennessee

COLLEGE: Began his UT career at defensive back before shifting to wide receiver during the 2023 season and played in 22 career games, returning 35 punts for 540 yards and two touchdowns (averaging a school-record 15.4 yards per punt return, breaking the previous mark held by Burt Rechichar (1949-51). He also averaged 21.1 yards per kickoff return (13 for 274). He was named a fourth-team All-America return specialist as selected by Phil Steele following his senior year in 2023. His 20 punt returns for 259 yards and one touchdown tied for the SEC lead, while his punt return average of 14.0 yards per return ranked sixth in the FBS and third in the SEC. Before arriving at UT via East Central Mississippi Community College, he was rated as the No. 3 cornerback and No. 8 overall junior college player by 247Sports.com. He totaled 13 picks for his career at ECCC and made 103 tackles in 23 games played in his three seasons.

PERSONAL: In high school, he was a two-way standout for Mary Persons High School his senior year and had six interceptions (four returned for touchdowns), a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and a blocked field goal on the defensive side of the ball while averaging 17.3 yards per reception as a senior. His full name is Desmond Zy'ion Williams. He has two brothers and two sisters and majored in communication studies.

OLB Rason Williams II, Louisiana Tech

COLLEGE: Started all 12 games in his lone season on the Bulldogs' defensive line as a redshirt senior. Recorded 25 total tackles on the season (including five for loss), and 2.5 sacks (tied for second-most on the team).

PERSONAL: Was a two-year varsity letter winner at defensive end at Alief Elsik High School in Houston under head coach Aric Sardinea. Originally signed with the University of Houston during the early signing period on Dec. 19, 2018. Was formally a three-star recruit by 247Sports and ESPN; ranked as the No. 119 defensive end by 247Sports. He was a member of Alief Elsik's basketball program for one season. He is the son of Rason and Rashanda Williams and majored in kinesiology.

RB TaMerik Williams, North Dakota State

COLLEGE: Returned to North Dakota State in 2023 for an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19 and played all 15 games with 14 starts at running back, leading the Bison with 767 rushing yards (6.2 avg.), second on the team with 124 carries, and third with eight touchdowns. Posted a career-high 162 yards in the NCAA second round playoff win at Montana State, including a career-long 75-yard run for a touchdown. He finished his collegiate career with 43 games played, 346 carries, 2,241 yards and 28 touchdowns (all rushing). He was named as a 2022 All-MVFC Honorable Mention, named to the 2021 MVFC All-Newcomer Team, and the 2022 MVFC Offensive Player of the Week.

PERSONAL: Played at Angleton High School and helped them to a 13-1 record in 2017 while registering 165 carries for 1,814 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior. He graduated from NDSU in May 2022 with a degree in business administration and earned a master's degree in health, nutrition and exercise science in December 2023.
