With more than 34 years of NFL experience, Sam Ramsden enters his 28th season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2026 and his sixth as Vice President of Player Performance. In this role, he leads the organization's integrated approach to player health, performance, and recovery—aligning medical care, analytics, strength and conditioning, nutrition, and football operations into a cohesive, high-performance system. Ramsden partners closely with athletic trainers, physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, performance dietitians, and analytics staff to deliver individualized, data-informed support for players across the entire season. A central component of his work is translating complex medical and performance data into clear, actionable insights, helping guide coaching decisions around practice planning, player availability, recovery strategies, and roster management. Recognized for his collaborative leadership style and effective communication, Ramsden has been instrumental in the continued evolution of the Seahawks' performance model. He has helped drive the integration of advanced technology, evidence-based recovery practices, and progressive injury prevention strategies. Ramsden is also deeply committed to player education, emphasizing sustainable habits in sleep, nutrition, hydration, recovery, and long-term self-care. His ability to connect with players and reinforce these principles has become an important part of the team's performance culture. From 2020-22, Ramsden served as the Seahawks' Infection Control Officer during the COVID-19 pandemic, overseeing league protocols and coordinating communication across players, staff, and leadership during one of the most complex operational periods in professional sports. Ramsden joined the Seahawks in 1999 as an associate athletic trainer, earning a promotion to head athletic trainer in 2004 before transitioning into his current executive role. Throughout his historic tenure, he has been part of three NFC Championship teams and contributed directly to both of the franchise's world championships: Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013 and Super Bowl LX in 2025, as well as the team's appearance in Super Bowl XLIX in 2014. Prior to his time in Seattle, Ramsden spent six seasons with the Green Bay Packers as an assistant athletic trainer and was a member of the team's Super Bowl XXXI championship staff. A native of La Crescent, Minn., Ramsden earned his bachelor's degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse in 1992. He and his wife, Lisa, have two sons, Henry and Lachlan.
