Named to his current role on February 10, 2025, Matt Berry enters his 26th NFL season and 19th season with the Seattle Seahawks in 2026. He previously served as senior director of player personnel (2023–24) following an eight-year tenure as director of college scouting (2015–22). In his current role, Berry works alongside VP of Player Personnel Trent Kirchner, overseeing both the college scouting and pro personnel departments to align evaluation, acquisition strategy, and roster construction across the organization. He remains deeply involved in the draft process, pre-draft meetings and the national evaluation of draft-eligible players, playing a central role in the development and execution of the Seahawks' draft board. During Berry's tenure with Seattle (2008–present), the Seahawks have totaled 11 playoff appearances, including three Super Bowl appearances (XLVIII, XLIX, LX) and two championships (XLVIII, LX). Over that span, Seattle has drafted 14 Pro Bowl players, accounting for 50-plus Pro Bowl selections, underscoring the organization's sustained ability to identify and develop impact talent across multiple roster cycles. As director of college scouting, Berry led all aspects of Seattle's college evaluation process, coordinating a nationwide scouting operation, directing staff evaluations, and synthesizing information to construct the club's draft board. He worked closely with President of Football Operations/General Manager John Schneider and the coaching staff to align player evaluation with scheme, culture, and long-term roster strategy. His tenure in that role spanned multiple roster transitions, contributing to both championship-level teams and subsequent retooling phases. Berry's career reflects a progression through all levels of NFL scouting. After serving as a national scout in 2014, he spent six seasons (2008–13) as a regional scout covering the southwestern United States, helping identify key contributors during the foundational years of the Seahawks' championship roster build. Prior to joining Seattle, Berry spent five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, concluding his tenure as the club's south-central scout. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Berry earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Davidson College, where he was a four-year starter on the football team during the most successful stretch in program history, including a 17-game winning streak. He also competed in baseball at Davidson. Berry and his wife, Desiree, a professional runner and triathlete, have three children and reside in the Seattle area.
