The Seahawks hired Zachary Orr as inside linebackers coach on February 19, 2026. Orr spent the last two seasons as Baltimore's defensive coordinator.
Â
In 2025, Orr's defensive unit finished 10th in the NFL in rushing defense (106.6), 11th in third down defense (37.8), and sixth in red zone defense (50.8%). Orr's defense was led by safety Kyle Hamilton who earned first-team All-Pro honors for the second time in his career.
The Baltimore Ravens named Orr defensive coordinator in 2024 after two seasons as the team's inside linebackers coach. He began his coaching career with Baltimore in 2017 following his retirement from the NFL due to a congenital neck/spine condition. Originally signing with the Ravens as a rookie free agent inside linebacker in 2014, Orr earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2016 before transitioning to coaching.
    Â
In his first season as defensive coordinator, Orr led a unit that ranked Top 10 in multiple categories, including rush defense (1st, 80.1 ypg), yards per rush (1st, 3.6), sacks (2nd, 54), quarterback hits (2nd, 115), yards per play (6th, 5.2), scoring defense (9th, 21.2 ppg) and total defense (10th, 324.1 ypg). From Weeks 11-17, Baltimore ranked No. 1 in nearly every major defensive statistical category. The defense produced five Pro Bowl selections; S Kyle Hamilton, CB Marlon Humphrey, DT Nnamdi Madubuike, ILB Roquan Smith and OLB Kyle Van Noy, along with two first-team AP All-Pros (Humphrey and Smith) and one second-team AP All-Pro (Hamilton). Van Noy (12.5) and Odafe Oweh (10) each recorded career-highs in sacks, marking the first time since 2014 that two Ravens teammates posted double-digit sacks in the same season.
    Â
As inside linebackers coach (2022-23), Orr helped one of the NFL's most dominant defenses. Over that two-year span, the Ravens ranked Top 10 in yards allowed per game (6th, 312.8), rushing yards allowed (5th, 100.8), passing yards allowed (9th, 212.1), points allowed (2nd, 17.5), third-down defense (3rd, 35.7%), red zone defense (1st, 43.8%) and takeaways (4th, 56). The 2023 Ravens became the first defense in NFL history to lead the league in scoring (16.5 ppg), sacks (60) and takeaways (31).
  Â
Orr worked closely with ILBs Roquan Smith and Patrick Queen, who formed the NFL's only duo in 2023 to each record at least 130 tackles. Smith earned consecutive Pro Bowl selections and first-team AP All-Pro honors, while Queen posted career highs in tackles (117), sacks (5.0), quarterback hits (14), interceptions (2) and passes defensed (6) in 2022. Following Smith's midseason acquisition in 2022, he totaled 86 tackles, two sacks and one interception in nine games for Baltimore, earning Pro Bowl and first-team AP All-Pro honors.
    Â
In 2021 with Jacksonville, Orr coached OLB Josh Allen, who became the NFL's only player that season to record a fumble recovery, interception and sack in the same game, earning AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The Jaguars finished Top 10 in the AFC in total defense (353.1 ypg) and pass defense (227.9 ypg), while producing the fourth-most quarterback hits in franchise history (81).
    Â
During his first stint in Baltimore (2017-20), Orr served as coaching and personnel assistant (2017-18) and coaching analyst (2019-20). He contributed to multiple standout defensive units, including the NFL's No. 1-ranked defense in 2018 (292.9 ypg allowed). In 2019, Baltimore produced a franchise-best 14-2 record and won a second-straight AFC North title. In 2020, the Ravens ranked second in the NFL in points allowed per game (18.9) and posted a league-high 25 forced fumbles, finishing seventh in total defense (329.8 ypg).
    Â
Orr attended DeSoto High School, where he recorded more than 100 tackles in eight games during an injury-shortened senior season. As a junior in 2008, totaled 157 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, one interception and three fumble recoveries.
    Â
His father, Terry, played tight end for the Washington Commanders (1986-93). His older brother, Terrance, is the head coach and athletic coordinator at Mesquite Poteet (Texas) High School, while his younger brother, Nick, played at TCU (2014-17). Another brother, Chris, is a former NFL linebacker who serves as a defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
    Â
In 2024, Orr was named to The Athletic's "NFL 50 Under 40" list, recognizing the league's top young coaches, executives and rising stars. He married his wife, Chanel, in June 2024.
