Week 1 NFL High School 2008 Coach of the Week Award

Eastside Catholic High School's Bill Marsh and North Mason High School's Phil Pugh are the week one NFL High School Coach of the Week award winners for the state of Washington.

Head Coach Bill Marsh led the Eastside Catholic Crusaders to a 16-8 victory over Eisenhower High School during the 5th Annual Emerald City Kickoff Classic at Qwest Field. The Crusaders defense forced five turnovers and held Eisenhower to less than 200 yards in total offense.

Coach Phil Pugh's North Mason Bulldogs won their won first game of the season 41-0 defeating Port Angeles High School on October 5.  The Bulldogs must quickly refocus as they have two tough back-to-back games during week 2 and 3 against Bremerton and Eastside Catholic.  

The NFL High School Coach of the Week award winners in Washington State are selected by members of the Washington State Football Coaches Association.  Recipients of the award receive a $500 donation for their football program from the Seattle Seahawks and a $100 savings bond from Sterling Savings Bank. At the conclusion of the high school football season one coach will be selected as the NFL High School Coach of the Year for the state of Washington. The NFL High School Coach of the Year receives a $2,000 grant.
