NFL.com: Earl Thomas is Seahawks Top Defensive Player
In his latest 'All-32' exercise at NFL.com, media analyst Elliot Harrison picks the top defensive player of all-time for each of the League's 32 teams.
For the Seahawks, Harrison narrows it down to strong safety Kenny Easley, a member of the Seahawks Ring of Honor, free safety Earl Thomas, and cornerback Richard Sherman. He lands on Thomas as Seattle's top defender, and here's why:
Earl Thomas narrowly edges Kenny Easley and Richard Sherman as the Seahawks' leading man on defense (despite playing in the back end). Still just 27, Thomas has already matched Easley with five Pro Bowls and three first-team All-Pro nods. It should be noted that Easley earned Defensive Player of the Year honors in 1984. But the trump card here is Thomas' contributions to two Super Bowl teams, a height Easley's teams were never able to reach. Thomas' postseason résumé: 82 tackles, two picks and a ring. Pretty stout.
