Thursday Seahawks Practice Report: Marshawn Lynch Making Progress

Marshawn Lynch was limited in Thursday's practice, a sign he is making progress in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Seahawks' practice report was largely unchanged Thursday, but the one change was a potentially significant one, with Marshawn Lynch practicing on a limited basis for the first time since leaving Seattle's Week 3 game with a hamstring injury. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism on Wednesday that Lynch had a chance to make it back this week, and the running back practicing Thursday would appear to be a step in the right direction. The rest of the practice report was the same as Wednesday's report, and while no change is good news for defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, who was again a full participant after missing Monday's game with a groin injury, it also is a sign the Seahawks could be thin at cornerback, with Tye Smith (hip), Marcus Burley (hand) and Tharold Simon (toe) all sitting out a second straight practice.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday that Burley was scheduled to have surgery Thursday on a broken thumb, and that more information about his recovery timeline would be known following that procedure. Carroll also said Simon is unlikely to be available this week.

If all three of those cornerbacks were to be unavailable Sunday, one way the Seahawks could bolster their depth at corner is to use safety Steven Terrell there. Terrell has some experience playing cornerback, including playing as the nickel corner last season against Dallas when injuries left Seattle thin in its secondary.

"It's a possibility," defensive coordinator Kris Richard said of Terrell playing cornerback. "But there's still a possibility we can get some of our guys back. We'll see. Right now he's getting his reps out there. He's getting safety and corner reps, so yeah, it's a possibility for him."
