A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks.

Good afternoon, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, Feb. 4 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Safeway Seahawks Sweeps

The YouTube video embedded above was shot in mid-December, but it only recently came to our attention, and it features Seahawks defensive linemen Cliff Avril, Michael Bennett, and Brandon Mebane participating in an entertaining Safeway sweepstakes to benefit three local charities - Virginia Mason's Nutrition and Fitness for Life, the Hope Heart Institute, and the American Diabetes Association

Avril, Bennett, and Mebane formed three separate teams with Q13 FOX reporters Matt Lorch, Kaci Aitchison, and Michelle Ludtka along with three Safeway customers and Seahawks fans - Kerri, Mike, and Kimberly - for a competition based on the 1970s television game show Supermarket Sweep.

With former Seahawks safety Jordan Babineaux as the host, each team took part in a food product quiz, turkey bowling - a favorite among grocery industry employees, and a sweep through the store to see which team could collect the highest basket value.

Mebane, who was paired with Ludtka and Kimberly, ended up winning the Safeway sweeps competition with a basket value of $2,049.89, which in turn secured $30,000 for Virginia Mason's Nutrition and Fitness for Life program. Bennett, who was teamed with Aitchison and Mike, came in second place and earned $20,000 for the Hope Heart Institute, while Avril, who aligned with Lorch and Kerri, came in third and raised $10,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
