Thursday Round-Up: Seahawks Rookie Wide Receiver Tyler Lockett Wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Month

A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks

!

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, Oct. 1 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Tyler Lockett Earns Special Honor

Tyler Lockett has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, after the rookie wide receiver returned a punt and kickoff for touchdowns through the Seahawks' first three games of the year.

Lockett had a 57-yard punt return for a score against the St. Louis Rams in Week 1 and a franchise-record 105-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears in Week 3, the only player in the NFL to return two kicks for a touchdown in September. The two scores make him the second rookie in NFL history (Tony Green, 1978) to have both a punt-return touchdown and a kickoff-return touchdown in his team's first three games to start a season. Lockett's 334 total return yards (240 kickoff, 94 punt) are the most in the NFL.

The award is Lockett's first after the Seahawks' traded up to select him in the third round (No. 69 overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Kansas State. He joins Joey Galloway (November 1995) as the only rookies in Seahawks history to be named Special Teams Player of the Month.

Tweet Of The Day

Today's "Tweet of the Day" comes from the NFL, which shares a highlight from the last time the Seahawks squared off against the Detroit Lions. The two teams meet again in Week 4 on Monday Night Football at CenturyLink Field.
