Thursday Round-Up: Pro Football Hall Of Fame Announces 2017 Modern-Era Nominees

A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about the Seattle Seahawks.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today — Thursday, September 15 — about your Seattle Seahawks:

Pro Football Hall Of Fame Announces 2016 Nominees

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its Modern-Era nominees for enshrinement in 2017. This year's list compiled 94 players and coaches, which breaks down to 45 offensive players, 32 defensive players, six special teams players and 11 coaches.

Former Seahawks players Shaun Alexander, Ricky Watters, Ray Donaldson and Kevin Mawae made the list as player nominees, while Mike Holmgren, Tom Flores and Chuck Knox made it as coaches. Safety Kenny Easley is up for nomination as a Senior Finalist.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee will trim the list to 25 semifinalists in November, followed by cuts to 15 in January. Those 15 in addition to Easley, plus 2017 Contributor Finalists, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, will be voted on by the committee the day before Super Bowl LI on February 4 in Houston, Texas. There isn't a set number of new members each year, but the process usually ends with four to eight enshrinees.

Today's "Tweet of the Day" comes from photographer Dave Sizer (@davesizer), who tweeted this photo of Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed and Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake after they swapped jerseys Sunday.

More From Around The Web

Digital media reporter John Boyle wrote about why returning to Los Angeles this weekend is special for certain Seahawks players and head coach Pete Carroll.

Thomas Rawls will start at running back against the Rams. "I guess I'm going to have a little bit more of a load this week, but as far as preparation, nothing really changes," said Rawls.

If you're in the Los Angeles area (or will be traveling there for the game), make sure to join the Seahawks Road Crew for their first rally and tailgate of the season.

Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times wrote about how the Seahawks' faith in DeShawn Shead is paying off.

Doug Baldwin has 816 receiving yards since Week 10 of last season, which only trails Antonio Brown and Julio Jones. Sheil Kapadia of ESPN has more on Baldwin's streak.

And Ike Taylor of the NFL Network has Richard Sherman No. 1 in his cornerback rankings heading into Week 2.
