Thursday Round-Up: Assessing The Seahawks' Super Bowl Prospects

A daily link round-up of what's "out there" about your Seattle Seahawks.

Good morning, 12s.

Here's a look at what's "out there" for today - Thursday, January 26 - about your Seattle Seahawks:

Where The Seahawks Stand

Sheil Kapadia at ESPN.com and Gil Brandt at NFL.com share similar stories this morning, taking a look at NFL clubs' future Super Bowl prospects. Kapadia sees Seattle as a team who should contend in 2017 with a strong offseason, while Brandt believes that starting in 2017 there's a three-year Super Bowl window open for the Seahawks.

Kapadia:Russell Wilson is the single biggest reason to be optimistic about the Seahawks' future. As teams around the league search for answers at quarterback, Seattle doesn't have to worry about that position. ... He figures to go into 2017 with a nice group of weapons including Baldwin, tight end Jimmy Graham and running back C.J. Prosise. If the Seahawks can protect Wilson, he should have a big year.

Brandt: The Seahawks' fifth consecutive winning season was also a somewhat bumpy one. The offense struggled to score at times, with Russell Wilson battling injuries, while the inexperienced offensive line was a weak point. The running game must get more consistent -- Thomas Rawls went off in the Wild Card Round before disappearing in the Divisional Round. If C.J. Prosise could take a step forward, that would help. Of course, losing safety Earl Thomas really hurt. Provided he comes back healthy, the defense should be able to play well for the foreseeable future. But the unit is getting older. Wilson will always give Seattle a chance -- the worry is about the supporting cast.
