Seattle, WA: The Seattle Seahawks, in partnership with Coca-Cola, have today announced the launch of the Go The Extra Yard Challenge, a four-week tournament designed to find the

Seahawks' greenest fan. Fans are invited to sign up at GoTheExtraYard.com and score green points by completing simple, everyday actions that benefit the planet, from walking or cycling instead of driving, to recycling at Lumen Field, eating a meat-free meal, and cutting energy use at home.

Fans taking part will compete for a range of exclusive prizes, including Seahawks game day tickets, pre-game field passes, signed jerseys, gift cards, and more. The challenge is presented by Coca-Cola, which has a global ambition to help reduce packaging waste by increasing the amount of recycled material in its packaging, and by helping to increase the rate of collection of cans and bottles.

  • Recycling just 10 plastic bottles saves enough energy to power a laptop for more than 25 hours
  • 100% recycled plastic bottles have up to 70% lower carbon footprint than using new plastic

Dozens of green actions are listed on the platform including recycling bottles, eating a meatless meal, and ridesharing to Lumen Field. Fans upload a photo of their completed action to earn green points. The fan withthe most points at the end of four weeks will be crowned the Seahawks' greenest.

The Seahawks and Lumen Field continue to be a leader in environmentally friendly and sustainable practices among sports and entertainment facilities around the world. Lumen Field was awarded the 2024 Green Sports Alliance Energy Player Award and 2025 Green Sports Alliance Waste Champion Award. In the journey to Zero Waste, Lumen Field became only the second NFL venue to be awarded their pre-certification for TRUE Zero. Through innovation and partnerships, they continue to Drive to Zero in their stadium and practice facility.

Garry Gilliam, Seahawks Legend and EcoAthlete: "I've always loved supporting the Hawks, and now I get to support the planet too. The Go The Extra Yard Challenge is a fun way to get involved, and I can't wait to see fans stepping up to show they're the greenest in Seattle"
