Seattle Seahawks Defensive End Cliff Avril Forms Team To Beat The Bridge To Beat Diabetes

Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril, whose family has been affected by diabetes, has formed a team for this year's Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes race, walk, and fun run.

Registration is now open for the 34th annual Nordstrom Beat the Bridge to Beat Diabetes, and Cliff Avril has formed a team to help support JDRF's mission to find a cure for type 1 diabetes.

Through his Cliff Avril Family Foundation, the Seahawks defensive end will sponsor this year's event and participate in the walk to help fight a disease that's so prevalent in his family.

"Having lost my grandmother to diabetes, who meant so much to me and my mother who also currently lives with the disease, I knew it was my responsibility to use my platform to help make a difference," wrote Avril, who also took part in last year's event with fellow D-linemen Michael Bennett and Brandon Mebane.

In addition to going to support a valuable cause that's close to Avril's heart, 12s who donate certain amounts will be eligible for a few Seahawks-related prizes.

Team members making at least a $50 donation will be invited to a meet-and-greet with Avril the day before the walk. Donations of at least $100 will receive a 'Cliff Club' walk t-shirt and be entered to win a drawing for two tickets to the Seahawks' 2016 home-opener. The 'Cliff Club' member who raises or donates the most money will receive two tickets to the team's home-opener, as well as an autographed Avril jersey.

The race, walk, and fun run take place on Sunday, May 15 at Seattle's Husky Stadium. You can click here to join Avril's team and click here to donate now.
