Seattle Seahawks Defeat Detroit Lions 26-6 In NFC Wild Card Game

The Seahawks are moving on to the NFC Divisional Round after defeating the Lions 26-6.

SEATTLE, Wash. —The Seattle Seahawks are moving on to Atlanta.

Led by running back Thomas Rawls, the Seahawks galloped to a 26-6 victory over the Detroit Lions in a Saturday NFC Wild Card slate between the two teams.

Rawls ran for a season-high 161 yards on the ground on 27 carries with a four-yard touchdown as Seattle's run game totaled 179 yards against the Lions. Rawls rushed for over 100 yards in the first half alone, becoming the first Seahawks running back to post 100 or more rushing yards in the first half of a postseason game. This was the sixth 100-yard game of his young career.

Rawls' touchdown run gave the Seahawks a sizeable 19-6 lead with 8:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Through the air, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson smoothly completed 23-of-30 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns and posted a 119.3 passer rating.

Paul Richardson was on the receiving end of one of Wilson's touchdowns, hauling in an incredible one-handed 2-yard touchdown pass with Lions safety Tavon Wilson draped over him. It was the first of two one-handed grabs by Richardson on the night.

Doug Baldwin led all Seahawks wide receivers in catches with 11 grabs on 12 targets and recorded 104 yards along with Wilson's second touchdown. Baldwin is now the Seahawks' all-time leader in postseason receptions, surpassing wide receiver Darrell Jackson.

Although the Seahawks defense only sacked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford once before the fourth quarter, the unit held Detroit's offense in check. The Lions only ran for 49 yards and finished 2-of-11 on third down as Stafford completed 18-of-32 passes for 205 yards.

The Seahawks now advance to the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs and will face the Falcons in Atlanta at 1:35 p.m. PT on Saturday, January 14.
