The Seahawks added a pair of linebackers on Thursday, signing Chazz Surratt to the 53-man roster and signing Chris "Pooh" Paul Jr. to the practice squad. Receiver and return specialist Courtney Jackson was also signed to the practice squad.

Safety D'Anthony Bell was waived to make room on the roster for Surratt, and running back Anthony Tyus III and linebacker Jalan Gaines were released from the practice squad to make room for Paul and Jackson.

Surratt, who was released by the 49ers on Tuesday as NFL teams reduced their rosters to 53 players, was a third-round pick of the Vikings in 2021. A standout quarterback in high school, Surratt began his college career at North Carolina playing that position before eventually converting to linebacker. Surratt played nine games for the Vikings as a rookie, then spent the past three seasons with the Jets, appearing in 32 games with five starts. Last season, Surratt played in all 17 games with fives starts, recording 28 tackles and two tackles for loss.

Paul, a fifth-round selection of the Rams in this year's draft, was a third-team All-American and second-team All-SEC selection for Mississippi in 2024, and was also a finalist for the Butkus Award, which is given to the nation's top linebacker. Prior to finishing his college career at Mississippi, Paul spent three years at Arkansas, earning freshman All-American honors in 2022.

In three preseason games with the Rams, Paul recorded 12 tackles on defense and two more on special teams.

Jackson, an undrafted rookie out of Arkansas State, signed with Denver in May and spent training camp and the preseason with the Broncos before being waived on Tuesday. In addition to playing receiver during his college career at Syracuse and Arkansas State, Jackson also has extensive punt return experience, returning 40 punts for 561 yards and four touchdowns over the past four seasons, good for an average of 14.0 yard per return. Last year, Jackson averaged 18.5 yards per return and had two return touchdowns.

In three preseason games, Jackson had five catches for 61 yards as well as one rush for 30 yards. As a returner, he gained 87 yards on four kickoff returns and 74 yards on six punt returns.
