Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week

For the sixth time in his career, Russell Wilson earned NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors following his record-setting performance against the Texans.

Following one of the most impressive performances of his career, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday's thrilling win over the Houston Texans.

In leading the Seahawks to a 41-38 victory, Wilson passed for a franchise record 452 yards, four touchdowns and posted a passer rating of 123.2. After throwing his lone interception of the game late in the fourth quarter, Wilson and the Seahawks rallied with a three-play, 80-yard drive in the final minutes to secure a fourth straight victory.

That fourth-quarter drive was Wilson's 23rd career game-winning drive in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in the NFL since 2012.

"He's way off the charts in what he has done fourth-quarter wise, the comebacks and all that kind of stuff," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "I don't know what they are, but he's got to be way up there, it's happened so often. It's his belief that it's going to happen, unwavering confidence that he'll be able to figure it out and do what he needs to do. I think also his ability to uplift the guys around him. I heard Jimmy (Graham) talking about that after the game—his poise and his presence affect people around him. And he has been the beneficiary of a long steady climb to understand and command these situations. He's really well prepared and well-schooled. There's nobody I can imagine wanting more than that guy back there if you've got to come back and get it done. That's a great strength on our club."

Wilson has now been named Player of the Week six times in his career, second most in franchise history behind Shaun Alexander, who earned that honor seven times.
