'Have you ever had a game start like that?,' was a question that offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was asked Thursday during a press conference.

"No. No, I have not quite that bad, no," Grubb said.

But what started off as a not so good first couple of drives for the offense, ended with them bouncing back and putting together successful drives in the second half to close out a game.

"They did a great job digging themselves out of the hole and staying calm and collected," Grubb said.

Gearing up for the Patriots, the mindset has been focused on fixing what went wrong in Week 1. The emphasis all week has been, "starting fast and obviously sustain it throughout the entire game," quarterback Geno Smith said.

Grubb applauded the way that Smith handled the entire game, saying, "I thought he was super efficient and responsible with the ball. Obviously he threw the pick when he got kind of crunched in the back knee there. You'd love that obviously not to happen, but I think it matches everything I've said that I love about Geno. When you think about starting a game that way and this guy is just one cool customer, he walks up and stays on, he doesn't flinch at all when you're talking to him and he's just been there and done that and been in so many battles like that that he's just going to be able to respond to tough situations and he certainly did and was super efficient with the ball."

Also efficient with the ball in the second half was running back Kenneth Walker III who rushed for 103 yards on 20 carries and had a touchdown.

"Man, that guy Ken Walker III is phenomenal," Smith said. "I mean, I can't express in enough words just how good he is with the ball in his hands. One of the best I've ever seen. I've never seen a running back suplex a defensive lineman with the ball in his hands. Think about how much fight that kid has. And obviously the things that he does on the field, he's a leader on our offense. We need him to do well. That's something that we expect from him. Ken (Walker III) has been doing a great job since he got here. He's only been getting better each and every year."

The Seahawks relied heavily on the run game, and the coaches have made it clear that the run game will be a very important part of the offense this season.

"The run game was working," DK Metcalf said. "Ken was churning, and we just kept going back to the well and he just kept producing for us and we didn't have to throw the ball, in a sense. When we need to throw the ball and need explosives down the field, I think Grubb will dial it up for us. If running the ball is what we need to win games, then why not?"

Along with the run game, Grubb is confident in the veteran players that the offense has like Smith and offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson. "Mature, got some good veterans that have been through some pretty heavy battles and they know how to respond to those situations. They know that anxiety and emotion and panic is going to get us nowhere, so we just got to boil it down and stop beating ourselves." Grubb added. "When we're led by that offensive line, when they're in their groove and in there moving the line of scrimmage, we are pretty dangerous. I think that's something we have to continue to harp on. They got to be the strength of this offense, the strength of this team, and that will take us where we want to go."

Tomlinson said, "I really liked how the guys responded-- not just the offensive line, but the offense in general, the team in general. We came out in the second half and started fast, offense and defense, so I'm really proud of that from the guys."

Another NFL veteran on the line, Connor Williams, who's been with the Seahawks for a month played Sunday and Smith was impressed with his play.

"Overall, just right off the bat thinking of his leadership. Just he was very vocal in the huddle. We were doing some tempo and he was getting guys to the line of scrimmage. He has the right demeanor and tone when he's in there. I thought for a guy who has only been here for three or four weeks, picking up the system and allowing us to operate smoothly out there I thought was very impressive."

This week the offense knows what they have to correct to have a better start.

"Not making mistakes, having those self-inflicted wounds, penalties, turnovers, those type of things," Smith said. "And then obviously going out there, having fun and executing. That's the main thing. Is that we're just out there doing our jobs. I thought we did a better job of that in the second half, and then you could see the consistency in our drives. So I think if we just do a better job at that, we will have a shot."
