With the 248th pick the Seahawks choose Ryan Murphy from Oregon State.

Murphy is listed at 6-0, 214 pounds. A cousin of Marshawn Lynch, he now joins him in Seattle. He was a three-year starter for the Beavers. He started 11 of 12 games in 2014. He totaled 65 tackles, which was fourth on the team. He had 6.5 tackles for a loss and registered 10-plus tackles twice last year. Murphy totaled seven interceptions in three seasons.

Murphy was one of two Oregon State players selected by the Seahawks on the third day of the draft. DE Obum Gwacham was  taken by the 'Hawks in the sixth round at No. 209. He gives the Seahawks further depth at safety. The Seahawks now can back up Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor with Murphy, DeShawn Shead and Dion Bailey.
