Seahawks Defensive Ends Cliff Avril & Michael Bennett Beat The Bridge to Beat Diabetes

Seahawks defensive ends Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett joined thousands of individuals at the 34th annual Beat The Bridge to Beat Diabetes event.

Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett participated in the 34th annual Nordstrom Beat The Bridge to Beat Diabetes this past weekend, an event benefiting Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Northwest, which funds type 1 diabetes research.

Captained by Avril, who has several family members that have been affected by the disease, the Seahawks defensive ends teamed up to form 'The Cliff Club,' a group sponsored by Avril's foundation that raised more than $26,000 for the cause, $6,000 more than the group's goal.

Avril and Bennett were joined by thousands of individuals Sunday who walked, ran, and raced through Seattle's Montlake neighborhood and University District in an attempt to beat the raising of the University Bridge. The pair of Seattle pass rushers served as honorary Beat The Bridge award presenters later that morning.

According to SeattlePI.com, the fundraising effort brought in more than $1.5 million.
