Seahawks Announce Week Nine UnitedHealthcare High School Coaches Of The Week

Seahawks and UnitedHealthcare name Lincoln’s Masaki Matsumoto and Sehome’s Kevin Beason as Week Nine NFL High School Football Coaches of the Week

RENTON, Wash – The Seahawks and UnitedHealthcare announced today that Coach Masaki Matsumoto of Tacoma's Lincoln High School and Coach Kevin Beason of Bellingham's Sehome High School are the Week Nine NFL High School Coaches of the Week for the state of Washington.

Coach Matsumoto led his team to a 35-21 victory over Bethel to win the PCL league with a perfect 7-0 record. Under Coach Matsumoto's leadership the Lincoln Abes have been a consistent state contender in the 3A conference. The Abes play extremely hard, with incredible discipline and outstanding sportsmanship. Coach Matsumoto does a great job of developing young men of integrity through coaching. He is always positive with his players and promotes servant leadership. He is a great role model for the other coaches across the state on how to coach the entire player and not just focus on wins and losses. 

Coach Beason led his team to a 30-14 win over Burlington Edison to bring their record to 8-2 on the season. The Sehome Mariners have had great success this year under Coach Beason's leadership. Coach Beason played for Sehome in the 1980s and has been the head football coach since 2017. Coach Beason instills character in his players, who are known for their incredible sportsmanship. 

The Seattle Seahawks High School Coach of the Week Program, presented by UnitedHealthcare, promotes the importance of youth football. Each week during the high school football season, the Washington State Football Coaches Association selects two high school football coaches as the Coach of the Week winners. Each recipient receives a $500 grant from the NFL toward their football program. At the conclusion of the high school football season, one coach will be selected as the NFL High School Coach of the Year for the state of Washington and will receive a $2,000 grant from the NFL and $10,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare.
