SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. -The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Jessica Chin of Holy Names Academy as the week nine CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Jessica will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the December 3 game vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jessica, a senior at Holy Names Academy, was selected Athlete of the Week based on her leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. She is dedicated to her academics and holds a 3.94 GPA while taking seven Honors and eight Advanced Placement classes. In 2017, she received a "Letter of Assurance" to attend the United States Naval Academy for the class of 2022. Community is important to Jessica. She is the founder and president of Food 4 Fido & Friends, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit pet food bank that has distributed 10,000 pounds of pet food to food banks and low-income service organizations. Additionally, she has volunteered at the Seattle Humane Society for over nine years as a foster parent, fostering both dogs and cats. Jessica is on both varsity swim and gymnast for Holy Names Academy. This year, she will serve as the dive team captain. Last year, she placed third at Metro championships, helping her team to a third place finish.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2017 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
