SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. -The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) and Q13 FOX (KCPQ) announced Hunter Toyoda of Lake Washington High School as the week eight CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Hunter will be recognized on the field at CenturyLink Field during the November 20 game vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Hunter, a senior at Lake Washington High School, was selected Athlete of the Week based on his leadership through athletics, academics, and community action. He is dedicated to his academics and holds a 4.0 GPA while challenging himself with rigorous coursework and nine Advanced Placement classes. Hunter was selected as one of 20 students to be in Loyalty Club, a community service club that plans fundraisers for the Kirkland community. In the past, Loyalty Club has fundraised for the United Nations Children's Fund and Hopelink by selling food and drinks at local sporting events. He is also involved at local elementary schools, providing after school tutoring and support for students. This is Hunter's second year as the captain for the Lake Washington High School's cross country team. He is one of the top two runners at LWHS, has not missed a practice, and puts in extra hours of training during his days off.
Each student athlete will be recognized at his or her school in front of families, peers and teachers, as well as at a Seahawks game. Each winner will also receive a $1,000 grant to their school's Athletic Department from the Seahawks along with media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, a customized football, and a customized 2017 Seahawks jersey. A total of $10,000 will be awarded to high schools over the course of the program.
