The Seahawks activated defensive end Kerry Hyder Jr. from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday, meaning he will be able to play in Sunday's game against the Bears, and they also added cornerback Bless Austin to the COVID-19 list.
With Austin out, John Reid will likely get his first start as a Seahawk unless D.J. Reed is able to return from the COVID-19 list by Sunday. Between injury (Tre Brown) and COVID-19 (Austin and Reed) the Seahawks would be without three of their top four outside cornerbacks unless Reed makes it back.
Still on the COVID-19 list for Seattle in addition to Austin and Reed are tight end Will Dissly, defensive tackle Bryan Mone and right tackle Brandon Shell, as well as practice squad players Ryan Izzo and Mike Jackson. Tyler Lockett, Travis Homer and Alex Collins have all returned from the COVID-19 list this week after missing Tuesday's game in L.A.
The Seahawks have also activated five players from the practice squad as COVID-19 replacements for Sunday's game: defensive tackle Myles Adams, safety Josh Jones, tight end Tyler Mabry, linebacker Edmond Robinson and receiver Cody Thompson.
Additionally, linebackers coach John Glenn has been cleared to return to the team for Sunday's game after missing Tuesday's game due to COVID-19.
The Seattle Seahawks take on the Chicago Bears on Thursday, December 26, 2024 for Week 17 of the 2024 season. Kick off is set for 5:15 p.m. PT. Take a look back at some of their previous matchups.
