A day after the Seahawks' 44-13 win, that included four touchdowns, a blocked punt, and punt returned for a touchdown, and an interception, Mike Macdonald and his crew are looking to turn the page quickly to get ready for a Thursday night game against a divisional opponent.
Here are four things we learned from Macdonald's press conference:
1. Injury Updates
Following Sunday's game, a couple of players came out of the game dealing with injuries. Fullback Robbie Ouzts and left tackle Josh Jones both have what Macdonald is calling, "an ankle."
He said, "We'll see how that goes over the next few days."
As for Devon Witherspoon, who went through a pregame workout on Sunday, but ultimately was not active, Macdonald said, "I know it's kind of funky but it's just a different injury."
Macdonald gave no update on Julian Love, Nick Emmanwori and Zach Charbonnet who were all inactive on Sunday.
2. Ty Okada's First NFL Start
On Sunday, Ty Okada made his first career NFL start through 12 games played and he was the only defensive player to have played all 73 defensive snaps in the 44-13 win. His 0.5 sack is also a first in his career.
Macdonald said Okada played "winning football," on Sunday.
"We saw it in the San Francisco game last year, but he's a guy that stays ready and works tremendously hard and there's a lot of communication that is required of that position and he communicated great yesterday. We didn't miss a beat in the back end and he did a great job."
Okada started alongside Coby Bryant in place of an injured Julian Love and finished the night with nine tackles to go along with the sack.
3. Fitting A lot Into A Short Week
Coming off of a Sunday game and gearing up for a Thursday game creates a short week for the players, coaches and everyone involved making for a quick turnaround. With the team traveling to Arizona on Wednesday, for Thursday Night Football, the Seahawks have a lot that they're fitting into two and a half days to prepare for the road matchup against the Arizona Cardinals.
"We're about to do early downs today and pass down tomorrow and red zone the next day. Every day is kind of like a day and a half."
4. Sam Darnold's Accuracy And Efficiency
Through three games, Sam Darnold has gone 52 for 74, thrown for 663 yards and four touchdowns. Sunday's game was Darnold's best game so far in terms of efficiency, after throwing two touchdowns, he finished the game with a 154.2 passer rating, the second-highest in a single-game in franchise history and the second highest of his career behind a 157.9 rating he posted in a Vikings win over Atlanta in 2024.
"He's being efficient, decisive, accurate, tough," Macdonald said. "Extending plays when he needs to, being aggressive, when he needs to, taking care of the ball when he needs to. So let's keep it rolling."
