After passing for a franchise-record 452 yards and leading the 23rd game-winning drive of his career, Russell Wilson finds himself up for a pair of weekly honors at NFL.com.
The Seahawks quarterback is one of three players nominated for Air Player of the Week and one of five players nominated for Clutch Performer of the Week. On top of his career-high in passing yards, Wilson completed 26 of 41 attempts (63.4 percent) in the team's 41-38 win over the Houston Texans and tossed four touchdowns, including the final go-ahead score on a throw to tight end Jimmy Graham with less than 30 seconds to play, a drive that came following a Wilson interception on the Seahawks' previous possession.
"His mentality throughout with all the stuff that was going on—we were playing from behind most of the time it felt like—and he had to keep bringing us back and bringing us back, and he just was in it every moment of it," Seattle head coach Pete Carroll said of Wilson's late-game heroics. "And finally, the fact that he was so calm and so poised after throwing a pick that could have ended the football game, he came right back and took us right back down the field in just perfect fashion."
For Air Player of the Week, Wilson finds himself up against Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson, who completed 19-of-30 passes for 402 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions against the Seahawks, as well as Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, who threw for 423 yards in a 20-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Voting for Air Player of the Week is open until 12 p.m. PT on Thursday, November 2.
For Clutch Performer of the Week, Wilson faces off against Watson, Steelers wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster, Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, Atlanta Falcons receiver Mohamed Sanu. Voting for Clutch Performer of the Week is open through 12 p.m. PT on Friday, November 3.
