Pete Carroll: Jimmy Graham "Looked Great In Pregame"

Injury updates from head coach Pete Carroll following the Seahawks' preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys.

SEATTLE -- Pete Carroll said the Seahawks made it through Thursday's 27-17 preseason win over the Dallas Cowboys with just one injury to report, a "tweaked" groin for receiver Tanner McEvoy, and even more encouraging than that short list of setbacks was the work tight end Jimmy Graham got on the field during pregame warmups.

"He looked great in pregame, didn't he?" Carroll said of Graham, who is working his way back from a torn patellar tendon suffered last November. "He was flying, yeah. He was really fired up. He ran a ton of sprints before that workout with the throwing and the catching and then he took all those plays and then he took the pregame warmup.

"He was lit up about it afterwards. He really felt good and that was a big step for him. I'm excited for him."

It was mentioned on the game's television broadcast that the Seahawks are having Graham, who played college hoops at Miami, work out on the basketball court too as he continues to recover from the knee injury that ended his first season in Seattle early.

"The idea was to give him a chance to make moves that are not controlled, controlled workouts when you're doing bags, changing directions and all those kinds of things," Carroll said. "I thought if he would just feel that it might show him that he's ready to go to the next level. I don't know, he's just having fun doing it."

Carroll also expressed concern for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who went out in the first quarter with a back injury after taking a hit from Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril.

"We heard that Tony Romo's OK, which that was kind of a nasty fall," Carroll said. "So the coach said, and we heard up in the box too, that he's OK, so that's a good sign. Too bad that happened early."

Cornerback Marcus Burley, meanwhile, who was on Seattle's pregame list of players not expected to play, is dealing with a "groin pull," Carroll said.
